I usually fill up at an Esso station for convenience (passing a Tesco along the way) but don't normally check prices. If I had been asked I would have guessed petrol costs about £1.30 litre so I was surprised to see that it's actually £1.43 (regular grade).

What made me look was a BMW car came in, drove slowly past the pump and left.

Most cars have a tank of 50ish litres, so even if the tank is pretty empty a difference of 1p on a litre is only going to be 50p difference in the total cost, assuming it gets brimmed. So many people drive a few miles to save one or two pence a litre when they probably burn more in the process... The only time I avoid filling stations is the motorway, as that really is taking the pee in terms of price.

never heard people complaining when it was around £1 lt last year... the country is up shizz street and buying high priced fuel helps our gov waste it on handouts to working people coz gorgon brown totally destroyed the world economy.

just wait till next year when they raise income tax to 30% and vat to 25%. or would people rather they put base interest rates back up to where they should be....

you get nothing for nothing and we have to pay for furlough some how.

I can remember go slow protests about fuel prices and it was a lot cheaper then. Have we gone soft? We should be out there manning the barricades. The French know how to do it!

The local Shell to where i am staying this week is 1.47 a litre.

Not saying it's cheap, but it's 'only' 10-12p a litre more than normal. So even on my 70L tank it's only £7+ if i were to fill up from empty.

It was up to at least £1.45 everywhere around here last week, but quite a few places seem to be back down to £1.36 / £1.38 again?

... apart from the E5 I've put in the DRZ which was about £1.58! Luckily the tank is tiny.
