US tornado

A few days ago the US endured a massive tornado. I have a friend who lives in NE Arkansas near where the tornado first touched down. It then scorched a path of 230 miles over several states spawning more tornadoes as it travelled. It varied in width from 1/2 mile to almost 1 mile.

It appears to have been a terrible one, with many casualties. And no doubt extremely odd for this to happen in December?

Tornadoes in December are not rare, what makes this one notable was the length of time/distance it stayed on the ground. The US National Weather Service has yet to announce whether this marks a new record.
