giving money to environmental orgs is like chucking a pile of bank notes out your window on a windy day. its the same as giving to charity... someone at the top is ALWAYS making money.

Well 'devils advocate' I understand where you are coming from, human greed takes its toll, however what other tools do we have apart from the orgs? I have proudly supported Greenpeace well before the Rainbow Warrior was sunk in NZ. They have, through direct action have achieved a lot over the years, mainly by highlighting Government and big businesses misdemeanour's. A recent success was distributing massive rock blocks onto the sea bed to stop large trawlers scrapping the bottom with their nets, this was in a designated British marine park. Someone has to raise the flag.
