No nation will ever back down in these conflicts. Hence why 'negotiations' take place, so it can be seen as agreed/strategic rather than walking away with your tail between your legs.
And with the weapons they've access to, it'll be Cold War tactics. Let's hope it escalates no further than bluffing.
