American Pie (by Don Mclean) is 50 years old!
First time I heard it I was being driven to Waltham airfield for a motorcycle riding lesson (run by RAC/ACU) which means I was 15 going on 16.
Many years later I saw Don Mclean in concert and he played a jazzed up version which I hated. It's still my all time favourite song though.
