Good morning people. I've been away for a very long time due to not having an SV, but, I've bought another one :)
This is Number 6 (if you count the Gladys). I bought it last week off Ebay for an absolute bargain price & have started the "doing up" process. I see that social media has taken it's toll on the forum, but may be looking for some parts etc. if anybody has any Curvy bits lying around.

Good morning. It feels a little strange to be back here, but good to see some names that I remember.
I have a little Youtube channel that I'm working on Called Holey Shed Motorbike rebuilds, there are a couple of builds that I've completed, plus the building of this SV will be posted on there too as & when I update it.

Yes, Quiff is on the book of face, I'll see what he says about showing his face on here. As for the voice overs? With a voice like mine? They would be good for anybody wanting to go to sleep :p

At the moment things aren't going too bad with broken parts. Rear brake caliper is junk, but, up to now, thats all. Unless you have an "N" top yoke
Nice to hear from you Colin.

I couldn't believe it. It's obviously the common one to go as the rear is only about £50
Any third party alternatives on Wemoto or the like?

Thanks for that. I sure that anybody can do it, it's just that initial "should I do this as I don't really know what I'm doing" syndrome sets in.
As it says in my Youtube Bio, I don't profess to be a mechanic..... far from it, I'm just somebody that has taken things apart from a very young age, then tried to put them together again & hope that they work.
I've made some really bad decisions & it's cost me a lot of money to put them right, but I try to learn from my mistakes.

I have some fabricating to do on the fairing that I'm trying to fit, but then, yes, hopefully start to piece it back together

That's interesting about the Honda fork internals fitting the SV. Keen to see how well they work now.

Thought I'd show you the look I'm going for on this build before the next video comes out. Frame will be black

GSX-R fairing? Interesting exhaust, that's for sure, and the front end looks so skinny without the front cylinder :D
As black is quite slimming it'll make the already quite svelte SV look deceptively diminutive, which may well catch out a few wannabees at the lights.

I wanted Gixxer, but the prices - even for damaged items were just too expensive. I'll be after a bellypan too, hopefully, that should give it a nicer look, but that's a long way off yet. I've been experimenting with where to have the exhaust & am now thinking high level. I'm going to have to get in touch with an engineering company to see if a link pipe can be fabricated.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221010/ba94d9a3a4d01f54ac881c76c67ee548.jpg

Fz600 fairing. ...
Well I recognised it instantly - see my sig! :D
Looks quite good in that pic, actually. I like the concept.
(Ironically, as part of my project musings, I've been considering an SV front end (with internals tweaked) as a budget upgrade for my FZ to improve suspension and get rid of the 16" front wheel without looking too non-standard. Haven't worked out the rear end change to get rid of the 18" wheel there though - narrow swing arm means clearances for wider wheel are tights so need to experiment. Don't hold your breath though, this isn's derail - mine's a very, very slow project, some might say glacial or stagnant - again, see sig!)

Fz600 fairing.
I've been experimenting with where to have the exhaust.....
I happily stand corrected :D
My vote would be to match the angle of the zorst to the rear bodywork, pretty much as per your experiment pic.
could be wrong but those swingarm/axle adjuster/marker plates look like mine. if they are thick SS then they are so they are handed R/L. also mean that its an ex members bike.

Cheers for the input. My son agrees with you too, so looks like that's the way to go.

I will have a look when I'm in the shed tonight. I have a feeling that they are fairly bent up, so are standard, but |I'll get my magnet out to see if they're stainless

Watched it last night. You make cleaning, painting and putting forks back together look so easy, which I know from painful experience many years ago on my GSX250EZ is not always the case #-o.
