Here we go - prompted by Matt's comment. Any chance we could pin this please Mr Admin sir?

Just to get us started, a picture of a roofless shed, a lurcher, and one of the chaps who took away the asbestos roof.

The Victorians definitely over engineered everything they built that's for sure

Some might say they just engineered them properly (to provide function for a long time against an enduring need) ;)

From your earlier post, am I correct thinking that this is Claymills pumping station? Since I don't live all that far away from it, I really ought to visit, preferably when it's in steam!

I visited Crossness Pumping Station on the South Bank of the Thames a few years ago on an open day. Part of Joseph Bazalgette's remarkable Victorian transformation of the capital's sewage system. Such an ornate and remarkable building. I'll have to hunt out a few pics...

It is Claymills, yes.
The volunteers are really knowledgable & love to chat about the renovations & how the place works. They are steaming sometime this month they told us

Do Claymills actually steam up Col? Only ask as Crossness was clearly running its beam engines on compressed air when I went.

It was interesting to see what the hawk had eaten after it finally flew off and left the corpse.

It had had a little nibble at the breast under one of the pigeon's wings, but the main part of the meal was the pigeon's neck: from the skull to the start of the breastbone was picked clean right down to the spine, barely a scrap of muscle or skin left. It had even eaten most of the contents of the pigeon's crop (seeds etc).

A while back we watched a falconry display and chatting to the falconer afterwards, I asked if raptors had any tastebuds. He replied that they didn't, and whatever they preyed on or found as carrion was simply fuel to be bolted as fast as possible, or taken back to the next for their brood.

Meant to share this a couple of weeks ago. Was walking round West Wycombe with Lady Poppy and nearly stepped on this little fella. Luckily I spotted it in time and stopped, and I had my Sony ILC with me with the wide angle on it. Don't think I've ever seen a slow worm before so it was lovely to get a few snaps of this one before it managed to get across the path and into the grass on the other side.

Those would have been very common in years gone by. Around 1998 I worked for a client on the site of the old Singer factory in Clydebank. The site is HUGE and employed thousands of workers, so big it had it's own station. Now it is low rise office blocks and warehousing.

Always nice to see some age on wooden furniture, so a light polish that protects rather than remove the patina sounds a good plan.

While I was cleaning the machine yesterday and fitting the new belt, I realised that I had misread the serial number. There was another digit on the end which I'd missed. That made sense, as when I was trying to follow the manual on removing and replacing the bobbin, and threading the needle, the diagrams looked nothing like my machine. I went back to the ISMACS site and put the full number in and it transpires that I have a 1927 model 66K. By chance I already had the correct manual on my pc. Suddenly, following the instructions became a whole lot easier..

New belt is now fitted, machine is cleaned and correctly oiled, and it sews beautifully. :D

It was very dewy this morning, so I thought I'd do a little macro photography. I only have the one sunflower in my garden this year, but the neighbour's have grown to over 8 feet. I like the contrast between the yellow of my sunflower and the lovely blue sky we have today. The water droplets were on the roof of my wife's convertible.

Apologies for the photo from Sunday, but I've been suffering with Covid for the last week. I did manage to get up on Saturday to take photos at our local 12 hour race. Absolutely cream-crackered now.

You can either run as a team of 8, 4, 2 or solo. The male solo winner ran 16 laps, which is 64 miles. Kate, my wife, ran 40 miles (which she was happy with as she also had Covid last week!)

I walked a few laps with a camera and was very happy not to be running!

Visited Lyme House today, aka Pemberly from Pride and Prejudice. Took most of my photos on my Nikon F so will need to get those developed. Been staying just outside Macclesfield.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230909/c10a229ed8e0c8f99b04807157815083.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230909/836a5a4a4a723e4f93091ee26be7142c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230909/8bd0130af22ec3c997c5c59e9045f324.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230909/4183d8eadb81ea209da18d51cc142784.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230909/9161d79f3664ef734af5af8a22e21d8e.jpg

Visited the Avro Heritage Museum today and they had this little thing tucked away. It's an Avro 707C and was built as a scale version of the Vulcan bomber to test the wing design.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230910/87281bf6bb10b87b1d77fd3e09b77942.jpg

In the absence of sun today, let's have sunflowers. These are in my front garden. The first one is around 10ft tall and the second is 12ft.

A few shots from my travels today, shot with a Canon Rebel XT and tweaked to bring out the colours. First three are Wrest Park, the others are Houghton House.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/259c285c695fc594e49986e4877187a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/18ef5094d6edf14e7c5320e8681a20f5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/805f9ce6a90b4d2e58a51e527c3c8487.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/d4065e127b8af64a5c7030a43f328f32.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/707d5711a35c602630b1b726345c1121.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230925/6a3ed8aebd204727f0b4161a256c37d7.jpg

Nice pictures Matt. The clouds have a real sense of movement about them in the 5th picture.

Went for a walk around Felixstowe Ferry and the River Deben, took a Panasonic FT3 waterproof camera that I got from Marketplace. Found some more horses hahahttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230927/7a52d1b9e57585cc003b6e8e763eb9e1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230927/28830bfe0778bd96c545446785abea66.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230927/3a854758319ce48d2ce8c50c9fe94a63.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230927/20c4790fb2f29529dffeccfc5e01cffd.jpg
