Don't know what to vote for, I run a BT010 front and a BT020 rear. I do occasionly toss a 010 in the rear too. Anyone try a BT 014 yet ?

Here in the US they're available already, or you can buy them online, but I don't know if they're shipping yet !

You missed the wonderful OEM D220's of the list, surely they will get lots of votes!!!! NOT!

Oops sorry  forgot to say, I don't think I ought to vote yet as I have'nt worn the crappy OEM ones out yet, nearly though on the back 3000k only, and in the winter too :x !!!

you don't say for what purpose?

Mileage?
Grip?
economy?
allround?
confidence?

Having been through 10 sets last year I have views on the ones I've used, but I'm at a loss as to what you want.

Cheers Mark.

i've ridden with the Mez 4's which I found to be awful changed to a 020 Rear and 010 Front and am more then pleased with them. Haven't ridden with any other tyre so can't really vote on which is best as haven't tried them all..

Sorry Rictus I should have made it clearer

My riding mainly consists of thrashing through the twisties on A and B roads with varying road surfaces.

I am looking for tyres that give really good grip inspiring confidence in both the dry and the wet. Mileage is an issue but not to the point of degredation to grip.

if i give you soome history of mine it may help.

I ran a cbr600fr for three years and used mainly bridgestone 010's and dunlops 207's and 208's. I found the 208's suited the CBR very very well, as the bike turned in the way i expected and gripped right to the pips on the edge (well in the dry anyway  I am a tad more wary in the wet.

However i am on the oem dunlop tyres at the moment and they do not give me any confidence in the bike what so ever, especially in the wet. And if i make a slight mistake like having to roll off in a corner or throw it in harder  then i want some grip and feedback.

having only owned my 2003 k3 for less than a month I really cannot afford to plump for a set of tyres and find out they are not really suited to the bike.

My heart says 208's (cos i loved them on the CBR ) But they may not suit the SV so well.

Hence my post to glean information from the longer serving members of this forum whom i assume have a wealth of knowledge to tap into.

sorry for the length of this post but maybe i have explained things better.

BTW i am married 42 years old and had about 15 bikes in my days with a layoff period of about 15 years before i got the CBR the last bike previous to that was a cb900f1 (showing my age now).

but i love the buzz i get on the twin and all that torque compared to the fours.

ive just got a set of 208's on my bike from the stock mez4, first few miles was weird but have gotten used to them and scrubbed in and i am a very happy chappy, lot better than the stock tyres and it just wants to lean and lean, wet weather confidence is good as well, cant wait for the better weather so i can really test them

just put on some Metz Sporteks - fabulous - turn in quick, good in wet and very sticky too - not sure how long they are going to last though as they are quite soft but they weighed less new than the old Duns 220's coming off with most of the rubber gone - the carcass on the Duns is so heavy. For me it's a toss up between Diablo's and Sporteks at the moment although the B014's might be worth waiting for!

You haven't got Diablos on the list... best I've tried so far. Similar to 010s but just that little bit better... imho of course

This is my last post on the subject

Now you’re asking for controversy.

I've tried Bridgestone, Rennsports, Dunlops and Avons, (also an oversize rear as wel, don't go therel  ).

If I was a rich man I'd live a Rennsports but that would require changing about every 2 weeks in my case.

The Dunlops, (D207's) in order to get the performance, I need to get soft one, which once again don't last, mind you that do drop into corners well
bit iffy in the wet, but I could live with that on the SV.

Bridgestones, I had a set of 010's fitted, didn't do to bad on mileage, but are a bit slow to turn in ( make the bike feel more planted, and need a bit more effort to get it over).

Avons AV45/46 Good mileage, good price, good profile (with the right pressure, you can get the "flex" in the tyres to work with you) now the SV being a light bike, I like it loose, if it gets out of shape at all you just stamp it back in. it works on the SV not sure It'd be that good on a heavier bike though.

For me the Avons work on the SV.

Cheers Mark.

that was the last 10 sets, I'm now on my 11th set and guess what their Avons, that makes 7 sets now of them. Yes there are better tyres, but for what I need these fit the bill.
A two to one change ratio ( rear to front)
about 4,000 from rear (8,000 from front) and that's hard miles (including about 6 track days a year).

Predictable sidewall flex/handling (once you've sorted the right pressure out/ 35-38 for me).
They do make the bike move around a bit and on the SV (being so light) it's not a problem even in the wet (although it needs convident handling/ not for the faint hearted). It could be a bit to much on a bigger/heavy bike.

Cheers Mark.

same here.. am just about to change to a 010 front and 020 rear in the next two weeks or so... i had a brief spell on a set of BT095's that i bought off a mate for a fiver - they were BLISS!!!

Shed loads of grip - although i doubt they'd be up to much in the rain.
