View Full Version : Whats your Mileage

I have a 3 year old SV650S, and its done 21782 mile, which to me its quite low as I was expecting to get towards the 30000 mark. but since I got it I've cut down my wet weather riding. Now when I last went to a dealers to look at getting a raptor 1000 they did that suck though teeth thing when I mentioned the mileage, almost like I should not even be riding the bike! So I want to know is my mileage normal? Is the world full of low mileage bike that never see rain? Or are the dealers just not in touch with the world and trying to get me to give them the bike cheap by making my mileage sound bad?
So if you could give me your average mileage for a year... so mines 21782/3=7260.67 (rounded up) then I can see if I'm a 'freak' or they are just leading me a merry dance. :)

Ok where's my option then ?

35-55,000 a year.

Cheers Mark.

Haven't got to the end of the first year on the SV, but it's looking like it'll be in the 20 - 25k region.

A combination of a nice long daily commute and a good few weekend ride outs.

I'm going to be doing c.20k a year. (that's if i choose to commute on my bike in deepest winter - brrrrrrrr)

Ah I feel better now!

I've had the SV since November, and have done nearly 6000 on it, so I'm averaging just over 1000/month.

That makes sense seeing as I don't use the car anymore, the bike is my sole transport and my 50 miles/day commute equates 1000 miles/month anyway

Since starting my own business I do a lot less bike miles. Now mainly used for occasional eves and w/ends. Usually use the car or van to and from work as it's only six miles and hardly worth the effort of getting the kit on/off and bike out for a journey that's not even going to get it warmed up.

bike will be 3 in june and approaching 19500. I dont commute and only get out a couple of times a month during the winter and once a week during the summer months. It would be a lot more if I didnt have to pay a babysitter, but it adds on £30 to the cost of a sunday run. :(

I've done about 9000 miles now and had the bike just over 6 months. All weathers everyday riding coz it's my only transport.I'm going to Wales and back on Saturday so should add a few extra to the total.

I've done about 21,000 and I only got to work on it once a week in summer (30mls round trip)... That means just over 19,000 mls of fun in two and a half years, damn thats good... I'm proud of myself, its there to be used and I'm bloody well gonna use it, I don't think anything of taking a halfday off work and doing 300 mls...

I think its sad that some people only use their bikes for 2/3000 mls a year, unless they've a good reason for it... There's a guy who sits next to me a work and he's had an RS125 the same time as me, and has only done 3000mls in total. Now there's a waste of a bike if ever I saw one...

Well Ill probably only do a few thousand...but we'll see. I expect about 6k this year as done 1.6k since Dec and what with the Eurotour about 1.5k. I am a total fair weather pleasure rider though.

11,000 miles a year for me. It's the best and quickest way to work

Only had the bike a month or so, done 520 only, but that will increase as I get used to it and ride the 40 miles to work and back a bit more often, plus a few rideouts. Plus I'm doing a few trips to Cornwall in the summer, that's 640 return from Shrewsbury. Reckon about 10K all told.

under 2499 miles annually  :D

Use the bike for the 7 mile blast to work all in town, proberbly does more damage to the bike than taking it for a long run as always changing gears as the traffic lights are never in sync in London 14 miles a day plus the occasional run can only manage between 5-6 K a year, but still more fun than taking the car or the train.

Yea, same here. I work from home actually, so all of my ~6,000 miles so far these last 11 months are just out and about riding around on local backroads.

unfortunatly this is down to summer riders who buy a bike in april/may ride it for the summer and then sell it with 4000 miles on it it's f**k wits like this who mess up the market when it comes to trading in as dealers are looking for low millage on all there bikes at the end of the day as long as your bike has been looked after and serviced at regular intervals high millage should not be a prob..........

sorry bout my rant :x

I bought a 4 and a half year old a couple of weeks ago with 17500 ish on the clock. It's been sat in the dealers all winter though so call it 4000 and a bit a year. The left peg looks like it's done more but maybe the previous owner was a fidgety gear changer. Are these digital milos easily fiddleable?

My bike is a 2001 SK1 and I have done 6900miles on it. Ask me again in 2 years and I will be on 7900miles.
