I'm looking to buy a new lid and want one that doesn't mist too much.I've been looking at the Shoei XR1000 with it's pin lock visor but would appreciate experiences of other lids.

Probably one of the best by design ids the ROOF DIVERTION.

However It hasn't been an issue for me for a number of years now as I always fit a foggy in my helmets.

Cheers Mark.

I've got a Lazer with pinlock which is great, only ever ever get a small amount of misting up about even in the worst conditions and only at the very bottom of the visor. You can tell how well its working because you get a loads of misting on the unprotected area around the outside of the pinlock

Don't get on with the foggy type masks as I wear glasses and it makes them steam up worse than the visor.

I have the XR1000 with pinlock and it was fantastic all winter. You can get a tinted pinlock for summer, probably not as pretty as the fog city. Personnaly I just use another visor. Its a nice lid. As Rictuds says the Roofs seem to be the lid of choice, but Id stick my neck out and say if an XR1000 fits a Roof wont.....maybe. It didnt for me anyhow. You will find fit determines your choice tho unless you are very average

However pinlock can be fitted to most visors I think as a tiny drill  comes in the pack.

My Caberg Brutus hasn't misted up on me at all, think the Cabergs are all pretty good at not misting up

Hi,
I've got a caberg justissimo it came with an Insert (my mates didn't and looks like the Visor's treated with something). The insert works great but can get water in between it and the visor. The fog city's stick to the visor so shouldn't have the same problem.

One thing as people are recommending the Roof's. The visors on the Roof's are shaped, so you can't fit a fog city or similar to them if the standard isn't good enough. Also apparently makes it a pain in the a**e to carry a spare visor if you get a tinted one.

Heard good things about the pinlocks but no first hand experience.

Stu.

I have a Justissimo, with a Fog City insert. Bought the insert at the same time as the helmet. Doesn't mist up, but I should have got the HyperOptiks one (can't get on with the built in dark visor).

arashi, as already mentioned, is very good at not misting up. i rode all through winter with mine and it didnt fog at all. give drayton croft in hinckley a call, they are a stockist. paid £99 for mine but i think the standard price is around £179. still not bad for the lightest tri composite helmet around!!!!

XR1000 - pinlock excellent. Never misted up and I ride all year. Easy to fit and I read today you can get shaded ones as well.

Also, its easy to remove, clean and replace if you ever have to.

I have the Shark RSR Foggy Replica - Crescent Suzuki and Infinity are both doing them half price at the moment and I can Close the helmet and breathe the hardest i possibly can and it still refuses to mist up . . . You can't beat it!

Yep agree with above. I have a tinted insert as well. However, i found with the tinted one, i had to add some tape above it to make it effective(Sun come in through the non tinted bit).

Other than that, its a brilliant lid. Quiet, comfortable ext, good vetilation.

I've got an arai astro j, doesn't seem to be too bad but any lid with a foggy will be good - they really are the dogs nuts!

Yep add my vote for this lid, I had a xr900 first that was a fine helmet, so I have just updated to the xr1000, nice fit, nice colours, nice a quite and the Pin lock is mint.

I fitted a fog city insert to my old XSpeed lid. Didnt mist up most of the time.

However, I bought a Roof Diversion last week and it's totally fog free 100%. Bit noisy though.............
