Just bought an Xr 1000 lid and it is lovely. The vents actually work, the pinlock stops it misting up and it is nice and quiet too. Only weighs 1350 grams if memory serves me right. Top lid.

I like it, can you tell? :?

Its fantastic, I agree. I am convinced tho that my shoei tnted visor isnt a perfect fit and has made it noiser. In stock form tho its a great lid and the pinlock works in really cold conditions. I would challenge anyone to regret buying one of these!

What styles do we all have them in? I've an xr1000 in the diabolic decals, love it! Fantastic lid, so light yet so quiet with venting that actually works.

Anyone kept the cheek pads in?

How much are they? I was looking at a Kagayama rep on Sunday, looks the dangly bits from fido.

Perfect fit too, just no price on it and no money in wallet :?

I got me one too. (After trying mr chutz's).

It's blue, silver and black, and an immeasurable improvement on my last helmet, which was held together with masking tape for the last few weeks of its serving life - much lighter, and so comfy i could sleep with my head shoved up it.

And now i don't look like i've been beaten up every time i take my helmet off!

Actually I have a problem with my XR1000. It was getting a bit loose so I washed the cheek pads. Now I did this in a cool wash in the washing machine, probably the only way guaranteed to 'fluff them up'.

Oddly, the now wont poper back in properly. The pads are fine and the weird thing is as they are on a rigid plastic backing I cant see how they could have shrunk. As far as I knew plastic doesnt shrink

Any similar experiences?

Hmmmmm...

The man from Shoei in the British/World Superbike paddock told me never to was the lining of my lid with anything other than a pH neutral, non-soap wash of some description... Like Johnsons baby shampoo! :D

I have an XR900 and none of it's lining is removable so he recommended doing it with a sponge over a bath of luke warm water with a little of the Johnsons' stuff in! He then went on to tell me that if it's hot & sunny outside, you could even hang it on the washing line with the chin strap & some bungee cords and it should dry out within the day!

Damnit, I got mine for £260. bah, still better than paying £350 for it.

This is my second XR1000, lovely lids.

My first one, (a voltage tc-2 design), was unfortunately crash tested.

Well I took my Kagayama rep for its maiden voyage at the weekend and am very impressed. So much lighter than my Craft lid and a little bit quieter too. Not as much as I thought it would be though. Just need a dark visor now. Forgot what a pain it is not having when the sun is out.

I've had a diabolic for about two months now. It is a great fit and the fog free pinlock system works really well. There is quite a bit of wind noise at high speed but no more than anyother helmet. The vents work well leaving your head nice and cool in the summer. When it gets colder you can close all the vents up and rely on the pinlock anti fog to keep vision clear and your head warm. Best of all i paid £220 for it from a local dealer who was changing ownership and wanted to clear his stock!!

Got a Kagayama rep at the Ally Pally and wore it on the ride home for the first time. The difference in noise reduction, not to mention overall comfort, from my AGV was simply stunning. Don't whether it was all down to head shape but my ears fit so snugly into the gap between cheek pads and the rest that wind noise was virtually non-existent. I have a medical problem that means I can't wear ear plugs so this choice has made me a very happy biker!!

And it looks the nuts too.

I got a Diabolic (the same as Jons), at the BMF last year for £250. It was either that or a plain black one for £200. I thought, for the sake of £50 i may as well have one of the trickest paintjobs around....

The pinlock system is awesome too. I used to use FogCity's on my old Quantum F, and in comparison they were ****e...

Does anyone find that the vents on the front of the lid (if you have clear ones), get dirt behind them? Anyway to clear it out? Or am I just being fussy now lol.

Dan.
