Thought you guys may be interested in some stuff available for our SV's .
http://www.chewys-stuff.co.uk/

I,ve just ordered the Stainless Engine Bolts & the tanks raiser kit.

May be worth a look - this guy makes stuff himself and for others as he has an SV1000 - but has just included 650 stuff today.

Cheers

Nice one. Not too expensive if you consider hunting around for the correct bolts. Nice and lazy.

Just one prob been nagging at me for a while. The tank has two rubber feet on each side which rest on the frame. I know the tank hinge is pretty strong, but they are sureley redundant if you raise the tank?

So maybe we need to consider some spacers there too?

Silly question I'm sure, but WHY would I want to raise the tank?

Hi Tris, Not a silly question at all ,and it wont be of interest to most , but here is why I am trying it just now -- the nirvana of a little more power.
Raising the tank allows a greater airflow to the airbox - thus potentially increasing the power the engine can provide - I stress this is all theory thus the emphasis on the potentially ...

It was a mod I had seen on my K1 SV650 when my Rene Airkit was installed so decided to try this for the K3 .. It is quite popular in some tuning circles - particularly for the SV1000.
I have a Power Commander installed , so have the facility to adjust the fuel injection mapping via a PC to make best use of all this potential airflow.
Its not going to make a huge difference I know - but hey - like a good many who use this forum ...I,m a fiddler ...
Cheers

I think I've bought all of Chewy's product except the tank risers.

Hes also creating a total bolt replacement pack, which I'm looking forward to, so I can remove all the furry bolts on my 10month old SV1000S

Cos it's less effort to get the petrol nozzle into the tank. ;)

The real-world "advantage" is that you'll hear an induction roar as the air is drawn through the carbs and which is quite muffled with the tank firmly screwed down. It's an aestheitc thing again, just like the exhaust note. As for more power, well... yes I think it's a theoretical thing and in reality is pretty non-existant.

Mine don't touch down anyway, I wouldn't worry about it...

Spacers are really only relevant if you've already modded the exhaust and filter as far as you can, i think... Personally I think it makes the bike sound crap, but it might be that I need to do it anyway to get the most out of my mods...

They're what real engines use. ;)

I think that it is criminal that a manufacturer fits crap stuff just to save a few quid on the selling price. I hope Chewy includes a full replacement kit for my K1.

Just for record, I would be interested if a kit was available for the old shape SV too.

The engine replacement bolts are not a problem i will need the bike for a couple of days to sort the full kit out.

I do a 58 pice kit for the sv1000s and n will have the second kit added to my web page at the weekend or early next week the engine kits are ready just need to cost the others. By the way suzuki are offering something similar for £110

How much would a combined kit be? Engine and bike.

Take a look at my web site to give you an idea you can get a full bike kit + engine kit all stainless steal 62 bolts socket heads and 20 washers with full instructions £31.35 if you buy both at the same time for the SV1000.

I'd almost certainly take the bike kit for the original bike... (oh aye, if you're basing it on a K1 or K2 remember that earlier bikes had one more pinch bolt on the fork leg!) if and when you make it... (already got an anodised engine set, because I'm a tart)

Is that yes then :D . As for getting the bolts right numbers and sizes etc i get hold of a donar bike 1st and remove one by one mesure them and log.
only need another 20 or so then i will go ahead.

That was supposed to be a yes, it just got a bit muddled.

Does anyone know if there's any other difference between the different years? We established that K1s and K2s have only one pinch-bolt on the front right fork, while older bikes have 2, right?

I'd definetely be interested in the kit (complete) for a SVS K2.

ok will need about 20 min to do it as i need to buy the bolts in box of 100s and need 1000 bolts just to generaly get them all right but if i am lucky i can use most sizes that i have from my other kits.

If someone here can take the lead and collect all the names (20 min)in this thread then i will get it done.

You will get a comprehensive list and instructions all will be baged into areas so you cant get it wrong they will be all stainless steel grade A4 all sizes will be correct.

20 names for the specific year, or 20 names for the SVS old (and better) shape in general?

Are got me there BaggaZee are there many changes between both the old models i can get hold of both a new SV650 and one of the old as you say better shape in gereral but dont no the model number yet.
Lets say the 20 of each then that will keep it keep it simple.

A far as I'm aware, it's just the engine mods (which shouldn't affect you) and the different number of bolts on the fork, but I can't say for sure... What might work, would be if you got your bits list and we all went out and checked our bikes for variations?

We wouldn't do that! (':- Apart from anything else, have you seen the price of other people's kits?!

Ok, who know's how to set up a voting-type thing? We could have different models & just vote if you want the kit for that. Would this work?
