Unles there's a whole lot of hidden damage there, of course. But it looks like it's just had a little slide on the right- there's a chip in the front fairing, teh mirror'll be mangled, broken mudguard, but by and large it looks better than mine did after it got knocked over last week...

Just thought the project or minitwin-inclined might be interested...

Looks like a cheap winter project for someone though ;)

Cat D normally means Stolen recovered and I think that would fit with the no keys/log book etc.

Best guess been nicked and binned and owner has settled rather than taking it back. They make excellent buys.

Having said that I think this one is overpriced.

How badly would Cat D affect the resale price in future? Because if you took the time to put that right from Ebay bits and respraying repairable panels, the key set and the red tape is the only real expense in that one...

Anyone know if Suzuki keep key logs on file? I know some manufacturers can make a new key to order with nothing but the chassis number and proof of ownership, but I don't know if Suzuki do...

If I had the cash and the space... (I keep on saying that...)

I think Patch is right, it has been stolen and recovered - It takes very little damage to write off a bike of that age.

The keys and lock set will be around 200 quid, the damaged plastics add another couple of hundred and damaging the foot rests could have just marked the frame.

You wouldn't need anything else. Would make a good race bike as you say.

My bike was a cat D but had been sorted already sort of....
Fixing this bike up will never make you a profit, but if like me you park outside, leave the plastics scratched and just ride it.

Doesn't look like it'd need new plastic... Front panel could be repaired and resprayed for about £40, mudguard might be the same, indicator- well, minis are £15 a pair, or if you're like mw you've got the originals lying around :) Something's gone a bit wrong with the grab rail, and the brake lever's almost certainly bitten the dust. (though there's still something on there)

I'd love to have a crack at it :)

Class D = Stolen / recovered. Some minor damage allowed such as locks being drilled.

Class C = plastics ruined, smashed front (wheel buckled/forks bent) and poss dinted tank. Typical of a rider coming off on a road.

Class B = minor frame damage (poss repairable) and/or completely destroyed outer frame objects. Typical of a rider coming of at speed.

Class A = death trap!, unreparable frame damage. Typical of a rider driving head on into a truck.

Take a look at the grab rail... looks a bit high up.. a mod or bent? Or is it just me?

Interesting Idea though, might work better for the pillion :? :?

Stolen/Recoverd?

So where's the log book then?

With the previous owner... or in the bin. The police would have recovered it and asked for payment on release. If the owner didn't want the bike then it sits there and goes to auction.

I think!

all it can take is a scratch on the frame, which would require the bike to be stripped down to respray and build it back up, in other words a lot in labour costs, if it was cheaper it would make a great track bike, you may even make your money back by breaking it, to put it back to the way it was before would need

new exhaust system(not cheap from suzuki)
brake lever
fairing panels filled in and resprayed
forks repaired if their scratched
subframe bent ?
bar end
rad burst?

plenty could be up with it

I reckon for a radiator break/bent front frame, there's be more damage to the front fairing- that's slide damage, not a big impact (would have broken at the indicator or underneath if it was, trsu one who knows!) Plenty could be up with it, but all in all it looks in nice nick from what we can see.

It's a wee bit pricey to part out, I guess someone in need of an engine could make it work out though.

cat D means normally light damages whether stolen or otherwise basically it means an uneconomical repair

but somtimes the damage on a cat d is horrendous

cat x is stolen with keys (these normally come off the register on new ownership )

a new log book will cost you an 18 pounds admin charge ,
if it were a car and a cat c you would also need a vic test (vehicle identity check )

just noticed andrew post lmfao where you get that info from
it looks nearly right

cat x is stolen recovered with keys normally then found after insurance has paid out had a few but normally they come with little or no damage whatso ever
cat d " supposedly the lightest damage but ive seen some stuff pummeled on a d
cat c` bike dont need vic test nor do commercial cars do
you will never see a cat b apart from a breakers that has to be broken ie sold as scrap

and as for cat a` forget it they get crushed never resold

deathtrap yes someone died in the accident

I was seeing my MOT guy a couple hours after and asked him. Didn't mention Cat X.

Mine is a class C. I found out at last MOT that front wheel is slightly buckled and one front disc is slightly warped though its not rubbing. I also swear the subframe is slightly off. I did get the bike £600 cheaper.

Is there not some new rules making it bloody hard if not impossible to get log books these days.
