Plead insanity, I would.

80 in a 50 limit would probably be a bit more then 3 points but it depends on the judge, if there where no speed signs around and you've never ridden the road you might get away with it lightly if you state your case well enough.

Were they nice and give you a ticket, or are you off to court???

Off to court (or plead by post), they told me they didn't have the discretion to offer a fixed ticket at that speed. :(

OUCH! bad luck fella.. it's easily done!

Was it a roadworked section?

hope they let you off light!

Cronos

It wasn't a road-worked section, it was a permanent 50mph limit section of motorway.

Didn't you get that eerie feeling as you whizzed past the other traffic wondering why they were going slow? #-o

Not much solace can be offered..................just hope that your licence is clean at the mo

Im with Rukus on this. Where are there permanent 50MPH sections apart from the permanent roadworks whre they are down to 40 if you are lucky.

Bad luck and claim a total like of signs in mitigation. (I could not see them as I wa going that fast  )

James Paul Tester, 26 of Moorhill Rd Whitnash, driving without due care+attn, failing to stop after accident, failing to report accident, driving without licence, driving without MOT, driving without insurance
fined £280, £50 costs, disqual for 6 months

Just feel safe in the knowledge that if your mowed someone down without a licence/insurance in an unroad worthy vehicle and fled the scene, your punishment wouldnt be much worse, cos speedings so dangerous. Oh, wait...

It was 9pm and the road was quiet. All the more reason for spotting a large Merc in illuminous yellow and white with massive blue lights on it's roof I suppose!

just hope that your licence is clean at the mo

Well it is for the moment!

There are a number of permanent <70 stretches of motorway. Mostly through towns where there are a large number of slip roads or where the road takes a sharp bend or other similar hazards.

Yep, The A1 has numerous 50 mph sections, usually with cameras

Ditto the M4 in South Wales around Newport (uphill/downhill/twisty with junctions) and Port Talbot (loads of junctions and concrete sound barriers to protect residents. Fixed speed camera there).

Isn't there a lower limit on the M4 close to London...........chiswick area?

That's the one. A road so picturesque that they decided to put cameras all the way along it!

Yeah but if you know which ones are forward facing and which ones are rear facing you can have some fun on that road at quite times

I always thought those 50s on bends of motorways etc were advisory as they tend to be in triangles

Eh? Since when?
I get on at Eastville and ride into town each morning. It's been a 60 from Eastville in for donkey's years.

I know that Bristol (C|Sh)ity Council want to gain control of it back from the Highways Agency, stop it being a motorway, drop the limit to 40 and turn one of the lanes each way into a bus lane. Tossers.

howardr

The M4 drops to 60 mph from around junction 3 (where the bus lane starts - motorbikes allowed - yipee!) until the elevated section. It then becomes A4 and drops to 40.

Four fixed cameras (2 in the 60 zone and 2 in the 40 zone).

S'alright once you know where the cameras are.

Blonde moment !!!

You are quite right I think it is 60 on M32 not 50 !!

Do you know who has yellow SV650s parked in Queens Square, see it every Friday morning. :?:
