View Full Version : Oxford Hotgrips
I'm thinking of getting some of these to fit to my K3. Has anybody fitted some? What do you reckon...
Cheers:-)

I've just got a pair. Will report on them once i've tried them out

Fitted a pair to an older CB750 i had last year. Easy to fit, but the on/off and temp switch was larger than i thought, and was a bugger to find anywhere for it to go on the CB.
Did their job though. Warmed up quite quickly. Only thing was though, i wired them directly to the battery with an in-line fuse.
Wouldn't advise that again, as i left them on a couple of times and ran the battery flat. Would wire them into the ignition switch. Apart from that a good piece of kit. If we do get the cold snap they are predicting, then i may well invest in a pair for the Sv as it is my main form of transport.

I just put them on mine, they're fantastic :) Make sure you get the newest ones that'll work with SV bars- there was a thread on the subject in the last month (just search for heated AND grips, author Northwind)
And yeah, don't wire them direct to the battery, unless you love to bumpstart :) Taking a splice off the tail light supply seems to be the most popular choice. the control box is frankly massive and ugly, nothing you can do about that, but there might be a place you can stash it in the frame (mine's currently gaffer taped in one of the frame gaps on the left hand side)
Thanks for that feedback. Sounds like they will be a good idea. These are the ones I'm looking at:

Are these ones ok? I'll wire it into the nearest available source. But not direct to the battery...

Yeah, ther the one's i fitted to my CB750.
Be interesting to know where you put the control box, it is rather large.
Good luck on the fitting.

I could be wrong... But I don't think those are the ones with the design changes for alloy bars. They have a slightly different box...

hi all,
I know Nagai bought a pair the other week when he came to visit us. He said they were easy enough to fit, but then he has a Super blackbird.
Bought his in Halfords for about 39 quid or summat around that price??
But you also get a cool "Noddy - Oxford" hat with them.
I wanted one
If I speak to Nagai over the next day or so, I'l get him to post for ye.

That bloody hat... It's cunningly built out of some special wool that doesn't stop the cold at all.

Northwind,
I don't think Nagai would notice the difference anyway.
He'll be back combing his **** hairs soon to cover the loss on his head..
Sorry Mart, had to be done!
