So there we were outside Nero's and a geezer is happily talking about his nice shiny R1. Very nice bike if you like that sort of thing. Transpires he hasn't managed to get his insurance sorted yet. Oh dear, hope you don't have an accident young chap    :!:

bye then mr R1 man...........................10 seconds later.......................

SMASH oh dear oh dear, we are in a spot of bother. You seem to have lost the front of your bike in the side of that car.
How unfortunate. Wasn't your fault? Yes I am SURE the police will see it the same way.

Absolutly no sympathy.

If you can afford to buy the bike, you can afford to buy the insurance. What would have happened if he had killed somebody and possibly left a family fatherless and without an income.

Prats like this give bikers such a bad reputataion it is no wonder we get such hassle from plod

I don't have much sympathy either, if you bike ain't insured, you don't ride it. Simple.

The one week I don't go to Soho I miss a bit of excitement! I'd imagine that was at the crossroads of Frith St and Old Compton St? Have forseen an accident there for a long time. Hope the guy's okay though.

There's a word in the German language which states very nicely my view on this:

"Schadenfreude" ( pr. shar-den-froi-der)

Roughtly translated is means taking delight in the misfortunes of others.

As long as no-one was hurt, of course.

All humour is based upon schadenfreude, it's unfortunately a natural human emotion. Great fun though.

Actually is was the junction after that one, but I know what you mean, I have been waiting for that to happen, just happy that it wasn't me.

I like R1s. Well, R1s in the dark grey anyway, lovely. But they do attract some of the very worst riders, in the same way that Ninjas used to and GSXR600s and thousands still do...

Have to admit, I rode with no MOT for a few days on both my bikes, which I've heard can invalidate your insurance, so I've basically done the same thing (though I'm not sure that this is really the case- someone told me it doesn't affect your third party cover). I can't really understand how anyone would own such an expensive bike and not have it insured to the hilt though :?

I'm not saying that I don't like R1's ( I don't really). Each to there own isn't it. I did think it kind of funny though when Mr R1 man jumped onto the front of his now mangled R1 and was giving it a last "I loved you so much" cuddle before Mr plod arrived to wheel him away in the meat wagon and his bike to the compound.

no sympathy here either. As someone's said, the rider could've left a family father- or mother-less and no insurance. Not funny.

PS I like R1s
