Just a quick one really,

What do you use to polish your SV.....

Clear polish or colour polish...

so,

Whats best and where did you get it?

I've used everything (trust me on this  ). The best polish by far (as regards quality of shine) is simple household Pledge. Surely not? Perfectly true I assure you. Makes a black bike look extra black. Longterm protection? No not really but if you polish on a regular basis more than good enough.

It's also the easiest polish to apply as well. It's also the cheapest. ;)

Nothing - I don't have an SV

However, I use Autoglym resin polish on my Hornet's paintwork about once per month and, as jonboy says, Pledge for the "brightwork".

Autosol for the downpipes which, on my bike, are stainless steel. Not sure if they are on the SV, though?

I use Autoglym resin polish on mine 2... found that i only have to do it once or twice a year. Then just give a good clean now and again comes up just lovely.

As you have asked

If it hasnt been done in a while, then i start with 3M Cut. This is like T-Cut but 1000 times better and easie to apply.

Then normaly, Wash with high quaility car soap/wax , then a coating of 3M Glaze compound, then finish off with a hi polish wax.

Shinner than a shiney thing.

Oh, my dad is a professional valeter! If i want an easy clean, then its Mer :D

The Autoglym is clear.

They do two versions - I use the less expensive one but it's still pretty pricey

Halfords

Does it remove the minor scratches???

Nope - it's just a polish. No "cutting" properties whatsoever.

You can reduce the number of minor scratches with an angle-grinder

I use autoglym on paint work mostly.
If I want to get it buffed up furniture polish.
Back to black on the dash and mirrors keeping well away rom seat and bars.
Autosol and never dull on metal work.
Add to this lots of elbow grease.

I powerwash mine whenever it gets really dirty.

Well, really I use Car Plan polish, which is rubbish... Nasty white deposits in the cracks (ooer), although it does give a nice thick coat and protects pretty well from scratches. Once I'm done with that (massive) bottle I'll try either autoglym or mer, anyone tried both and can give me a comparison? (I'll be turning over a new cleaning leaf after the respray)

bit of snotty rag and spit does the trick for me

Petroleum jelly on the forks[very light smear] Autoglym on the paint work
Autoglym bumper care on the black plastics and regular spraying of the rest with WD40 OR SUCH [let dry and then wipe with clean rag ]

Maybe not the shiniest but it keeps the corrossion at bay till you want to sell or exchange

I think i am going to have to invest in some of those clear patches to put on the side of the tank, as i have noticed some very light abrasions where my legs have been rubbing... will try the autoglym when i get some good weather...and i decide not to ride (unlikley)...
