Well OK it had a big red stripe down both sides and blue flashing lights

Sitting waiting at the Shebherd Bush roundabout and see a police van Blues & Twos coming up behind, so move out of the way and let him passed. He go's straight on and moves into the Bus lane on the left of the three carriagways and dissappears ahead. Lanes one and two are stationary, as I am turning right ahead I am in lane three which is clear, so I am riding ahead about 25 mph expecting the Police Van to come into the main carriageway where the bus lane ends.

About 30 yards or so short of this point I am passing a box van (in lane two) and the front of the Police transit exits at almost right angles to the traffic having "filtered" in between the stationary lanes.

I braked and swerved (thank goodness for ABS) but couldn't avoid the van and hit the front offside wing, The GS went into an absolute Tiz but somehow I manged to stay on it and keep it shiny (all be it now dented) side up.

Stopped and so did the transit and out got the 6 officers , nice chaps actually all very relieved that they were talking to me rather than scraping me off the pavement.

The result:

GS Crash bars bent, Tank dented and Givi box scuffed. Ridable.

The Police Van; Bumper ripped off the front headlight smashed, wing dented and mirror smashed. (off the road)

Me: took a knock to the front of my calf muscle and have a bit of a dead leg but the HG hiprotec armour and Daytona's did their job

So overall I am feling pretty content tonight I was hit by a Police transit on an emergency run and the transit came off worst.

Photos attached show the damage to the Van and the bike (not great quality but hey I ain't no David Bailey)

Well done on keeping it upright. Not something I'd like to experience, it's interesting enough staying on two wheels when you're not colliding with vans.

Whoops. Glad your ok.

It's good to see the police are normal and make mistakes as well though.

Oh no, all those witnesses to your excessive speed and dangerous riding. Your going down

Well done on staying upright I hope that the police are like the other emergency services and get put through the wringer whenever they have an accident on blues. From your description you are in the clear

You sustained a bit of an injury. get it checked out just in case

Glad you are OK, Patch. Also glad that the damage to the bike is minimal.

Only thing I don't understand is why were you riding a GS? As far as
I recall you have a VFR.

Glad to hear that you are okay Patch. Good thing you were on the GS and not the Viffer, you could have come out a lot worse. I see another trip to Muppet .....................

Because I added to the stable a few weeks ago, still got the VFR but fancied something different.
