As the bike will be in the garage for lengthy periods over the winter,if we
have extended periods of bad weather, I was just wondering if it would be worth fitting a "PLUG IN"charging system.
Does anybody use one?
What make do you recomend?
Are they easy to fit?

Accumate, Optimate, (and a number of other 'Mates' too), can all be left connected to a battery indefinately, both of the above mentioned come crocodile clips and a lead for permanent connection to the battery which you can run to under the rear seat, no need to remove the riders seat, you just need to plug it in.

Seen them both between £35 ~ £45, extra connection leads are about a fiver a set.

Yep, Optimate III seems to be the charger of choice.

I have a Banner Accuguard 1.8A (also sold under slightly different Accuguard names) which does the same thing as the Optimate, all the intelligent battery condition assessment stuff. They do a smaller 900mA version which does smaller batteries (covers all bikes anyway) up to 35Ah, it's cheaper at around £30 but might you need it for car batteries in future?

Most types are available at spares places such as M&P, Busters etc and many dealers (sometimes slightly dearer).

I have an Optimate fitted to my bike it guarantees battery condition so after a long rest your bike is gonna start. No more flat battery and they claim your battery actually lasts longer.

I've had my optimate for about six years now and its still going strong and I've not had to replace a battery in that time.Get one.
I'll probably have to eat my words as the thing packs up now
