I accidently saw some of Top Gear last eve. Blimey, that Nurburgring looks scary. I'd always thought it would be a fun thing to do once at a sensible speed, but it looked like a high speed busy commute to me. I had no idea how many bikes and cars you got on it at the same time. With many of them clearly inexpertly driven or pushing just too far.

Anyone having a go, have fun and my respect....but I think Ill give it a miss

13 MILES!!!! Blimey  I would love to have a go. Don't know what the carousel would be like on a bike. That was the tight banked curve. Some of them Golfs were pretty quick (or was it Clarkson going slow).

Probably a bit of both :?

I was surprised at how tail happy that jag was though.

Over 13 miles and over 130 corners I think.. no wonder he couldnt remember where he was going...

I'd still like to do it.. total respect for the F1 drivers that used to race round it before Lauda had his accident...

What about the german girl who lived near there how was taking the mick out of him for going to slow.. that was funny

Have to say after seeing that I'm put off next years trip, Maybe it was just a busy day there or something but I wouldn't want that many people around me first time out on a track.

Oh and did anyone else love the racing of the people carriers?

The people carriers were great... As was the woman laughing at Clarksen.

As for going to the ring, I'd love to in a car, but there is no way I'm taking a bike. Heard too many tales, and seeing those drivers and cars so close at that speed... No thanks. There is a site dedicated to why you shouldn't take bikes to the ring. It put me off for good...

The Nurburgring looks pretty mad. Having cars/bikes on at the same time doesnt seem particularly sensible.

Think I'd rather ride round a short circuit that you can learn in a few laps rather than that monster

Thing with the Ring is that it is basically just a tolled road...

What they did not show are the slow cars on it, imagine blasting round in a 911 and coming upon a family tootling round in a camper van... It does happen! I also reckon that was filmed during a weekend, did you see how many British registered cars there were, go round ona week day and it is quieter. But some of the locals will put pro drivers to shame and they really don't hold back...

I think it's for those who've been to all the nearer tracks :) There's better tracks closer to home without the drawbacks, so why bother? I'd sooner go to Cartagena...

That was pretty scarey... especially when you saw the tow truck with a mangled bike on the back of it from an off.

never ind all the cars cuttin gbikes up on corners and vice versa....not somewhere i'd like to go when it's that busy...

At one bend, Clarkson said "this is where Lauda lost his ears". Hmm!

This is an on tank vid done by a really fast guy who works for Metzler now

My brother did the Ring on is GSXR 1K this year, he said it wasn't too bad as far as traffic was concerned, just the road surface was hellish in spots.

How fast did Clarkson do it in? The guy here

http://www.metzelermoto.co.uk/metzeler_fun/nurburgring/index.asp

does it in about eight and half minutes. on an RI. Maximum speed I could see was 244kph (about 150mph), but towards the end the speedo is in the shade.

Guess I'll have to stay up next Sunday to watch Clarkson
