I have an 03 SVS with a Yoshimura RS-3 Slip-on exhaust. I was wondering if performing a snorklerectomy would have any negative side effects, because I noticed in the FAQ that it's recommended to have a full exhaust system. Also, would the ECU be able to compensate for the snorklerectomy and the Yosh pipe or would I need to remap the injection. Thanks for any help.

Rain is the main side effect, as one of the reasons the snorkel is there is to prefent water (and, I suppose, any other 'foreign objects') entering the airbox!
You may also find that the ECU will over-compensate and give you a rich mixture - or it may not be able to cope at all and still run lean!
In my experience, a remap and dyno-runs are well worth the money!
A 'yoshi-box' tune in this manner over here in the UK generally costs between £30 and £75 and in my case (with a K&N filter, Scorpion slip-on exhaust, TRE mod & TPS mod [snorkel still in place]), my bike gained about 5bhp and was putting out 83.1bhp!!
It alsomad it a lot more rideable!!

Oh - I meant to say that it's really easy to get the snorkel out & just as easy to put it back in - you just unscrew all th screws in the top of the airbox, take off the top & carefully prise out the snorkel. Be careful though, as you can quite easily crack the bottom piece of the top of the airbox!
So, it wouldn't hurt to try iy to see what you think! (On a dry day, though!! )

It does make a bloody good noise when you crank it, that's for sure.
I have to admit, I'd forgotten how good it was, I put the snorkle back in briefly yesterday and went for a run and was disappointed.
I think I will have to find myself an sv1000 snorkle so I don't have to give up this lovely noise.
