Had to go to work this morning as the w*****s wouldn't let me out of it. I left my mate's house in Burwash to ride the 12 miles to Tunbridge Wells. Had to use a lighter on my key to unfreeze the lock on the ignition barrel which was warning enough to take it easy but...
at about 7 or 8 points in a 2 mile stretch of road there was sheet ice covering the whole width of the road and about 6 foot across where cars had been washed on their driveways. I had to go SLOW and use a very loose grip on the bars in order to "skip" across the ice. Be carefull out there dudes. Even at 15 mph ice will have you sailing into an oncoming car!!!!!

Made it without real incident but could have easily been different if I was less awake this morning!!! :?

There's no way you'd get me going out on ice. I'm happy to go out when it's pouring with rain, muddy, foggy, freezing or windy, but i don't do ice

When I encure this I stretch both legs out to act as stabalisers when the bike falls. It's saved my pre-SV bike before. Don't do @ speed though

We had a pile of ice here too - most of the snow melted yesterday pm and there was a lot of standing water which started to freeze as soon as the sun went down. Gritter wagon? Get real, this is Shrewsbury
