Another one for you guys.
From this damage what will the engineer say to do with the my 2000 SVS. Caused by a front impact, falling on left side and spinning 180 degrees whilst parked.
Left fairing cowl smashed.
Centre Fairing cowl cracked
Right Fairing cowl cracked
Bent Fairing frame (possibly)
Bar end scratched up
Clutch lever bent
Gear lever Bent
Frame scratched (smoothed by kerb)
Mirrors
Indicators
I think the spin caused the frame damage, but the inspector may view it as wear and tear from boots. But it is about 1-2 inchs too high
So what do you think, write off or will they fix?

On a year 2000 bike, they'll probably write it off  But hey, what do I know :?: I'm no insurance inspector...
Its a write off. Any damage to the frame makes it so.

What are the chances he will put it down to wear and tear?
How much would you expect them to pay out on the model?
Would i get it back to sell on/repair?

Bump....
Bump....
That's what happened to the bike
Given what our bikes seem to be worth at the moment, I suspect that you're looking at an economic (rather than physical) write-off. You should be able to get it back from the insurance company if you want to.
You can then either:
1. Repair it yourself buying parts off Ebay
2. Break it for parts and flog 'em on Ebay and put the money gained, together with the insurance payout, towards buying your Hornet loan bike
write offs, my specialist subject....
in the event of it being a category c or d write off, the standard arrangements are that you can keep the remains for 10% of the sum offered. the insurance co will deduct it from the settlement and send you the difference. the insurers wil ask for the V5 and then regiser it as a total loss with DVLA.
if it's cat a or b (sounds unlikely in your case) i don't think you get the option to keep it as these are deemed unsafe to ever go on the road again.
if you do keep it and want to put it back on the road you have to contact VOSA (vehicle operating s.... agency) who will simply check the VIN and make certain the bike is road legal. If Cat D, you don't even have to do that. You can then apply for the V5 which will state that it is a Cat whatever so will have an impact (no pun etc...) on resale value.
Have just been through all this myself.
ps if it is a non fault accidnet and the other party are accepting liability you can get a loan bike from someone like helphire.co.uk
He's done very well on that front and has a fabulous Honda Hornet to play with
Okay, so it's not a Fazer 1000, but..........................
