170 on the back wheel

well guys
forgive my ignorance(i'm a paddy} someone may have asked this already,
i'm thinking of putting a 170 tyre on de back, will it handle o.k.?

Honest tho, we had this chat a while back and the general consensus is that you need a 5" wheel for a 170. Sv being 4.5". The tyre will go on but you won't have the same profile.
As for the handling that's a good question.

Wide rear tyres are getting a bit passe as a fashion statement and usually screw up the handling too. Why bother?

It'll make it slower to turn in and also might (possibly) invalidate your insurance in the event of a claim...
