Just cleaned my visor again for the third time in two days..
Is there anything I can put on it to try and stop the crub settling on it
I'm thinking about something like rainx that you use on car windscreens but I dont know if you can use this on plastic visors... I've got a naughty iridium one and I dont want to spray anything on it that might damage the coating
Ideas anybody
thanks
Don't really know af anything that will stop the build up of dirt. :(
I always carry a wet rag with me (tucked behind the screen) so that I can wipe off my visor mid-ride.

from what im told, putting anything on an iridium visor will probably damage it.

You can buy it in halfords, you wipe it onto car windscreens, it makes rain form into beads, and then the wind pressure blows the water off
With a cloth or tissue, and some water

On the car yes... excellent... on the visor... doesn't stick to the plastic

does it stay on the windscreen even if u wash the car?
not that i ever wash it.
Yup... the effects are noticeable for a few months, even if you wash the car. However, you do need to reapply from time to time to get it back to its best.
A little yellow bottle lasted me nearly 2 years - it goes a long way. I also had the pink bottle to put in the washer bottle which helps keep it working, but not necessary.
Yep, the stuff is brilliant on cars. The only thing that used to bring it off was the abrasion caused by the windscreen wipers. I used to use stuff that came in a little pink tube, anything over 40mph and you didn't need the wipers on. Only problem is if your screen is not really clean when you do it, ie all road grease and grime cleaned off it then its bleedin awful with the rainx or similar stuff on it. If only they would make something similar for bike visors :(

my bike instructor swore by mr sheen... he reckoned water just fell off the visor.... dunno about damaging 'special' visors though...

There are a couple of things like it, but I don't think any of them are any good.
The label has come off the little bottle I bought a year or two ago, but I never found it very useful anyway.
As for keeping the visor clean, I tend to clean mine pretty much everyday.
I use rainx on my visor (standard plastic) and it works a treat, apart from having to re-apply very often (but then it takes 30 secs max to apply, and cleans the visor at the same time). When it rains the water flows off, and when it's drisly just turn your head slightly and occasioinally and the water comes off. Much better than having to keep wiping it with your glove...
The rainx in the black bottls that's supposed to stop misting is absolutely useless though. Still fogs enough to lose visability and in strange paterns and is then difficult to get rid of. I just live with opening the visor a notch below 80kmph to keep an air flow on it. Must get one of the proper anti mist things fitted when I get a new helmet in the summer.
As for keeping it clean... If there is loads of crud on the road I just clean once a day (at the same time as the rainx...). Again takes seconds normally to get a smear free finish.

If there is a lot of water then Mr Sheen is ok. It's when the roads are just damp and it is only spray is when I get a problem. Just not enough water to roll off the visor and the grime just sticks like a sticky stuff.
Hmmm, looking at mine reflecting in the light now it has a rainbow sheen underneath the coating of london smog
Goes to get water and tissues....

If you twist the visor cleaning grip (located on the right hand handle bar) far enough, dirt and water will just slide off your visor

I was gonna say this... Polish is ace, especially decent resin polish, like you put on yer tank.
Then wipe a film of fairy liquid on the inside and it won't steam up either...
