I saw one sexy arsed (and it was the rear that made it) Hornet today.
All in black, racing rear seat crowl, street fighter front 8) yummy.
And then it left the lights.
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... Pardon?! Is that motorbike or moped under that glorious looking beast :?: and that was with an after market exhaust.

Hornet? Bit of a misnomer if you ask me.
misnomer? not really... when I get the cbr at a certain revs it does sound like a hornets nest... was thinking that on the m20 last night actually...
I think its angry with me for not letting it go faster.... the thing just wants to fly...
may not sound as good as the sv with the can on but Im starting to appreciate the fact it starts when covered with ice... :D and Im starting to enjoy the acceleration it has....
now wheres me can of hammerite? off to finish phase III of the respray....
have you taken it to the redline yet lyn ? the noise soon changes, as does the speed (rapidly)

I've no doubt of it's speed, this chap was flying, which is why I was surprised I heard little!
Looked lovely though 8)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
yeah... it doesnt so much accelerate as just launch down the road
find mine kicks in around 6-7k revs, but really really goes like something off a shovel when I hit around 9-10 on the counter...
this is a 15 yr old cbr so may not be the same as the newer ones but it still bloody does a brand new sv650s... as I found out on the rideout on saturday
good good - thats what i like to hear :)
mines a 3 year old CBR. not sure what it will be like in 15 years you know.
its a honda... itll still be running and performing as it is now probably :D
I only know 2 guys who've killed CBRs... and they generally kill most bikes they have... otherwise pretty indestrubtible engines...
For a 15 year old bike Im impressed with it.... my SVs suffering from the mileage and its only 4 yrs old.... but the honda just keeps on going....
Just trying to slow down on it now... keep noticing Im over a ton on the motorway...its so easy to speed on it....   :D

Shall we all come on here and slag the SV off? After all, it is an SV site!
If you think a Hornet can blow an SV away, then the SV must have been ridden by Stevie Wonder!

Obviously someone that has never ridden a hornet then. The are both very enjoyable bikes, both similar in performance. The Sv aint that quick you know. Open your mind ;)
A cbr mind, well, thats a totaly different kettle of fish

Don't get us started, I bet most of the people here have something bad to say about the SV, even if it's just build quality.

Yeah, fair enough, but neither is a Hornet. Open your mind.
I have been riding for about ten years and have ridden a number of bikes,
including a Hornet and i am certain that in real world riding conditions an SV is much more enjoyable, better looking, and sounding than the Hornet.

I was actually trying to stand up for the SV! its been getting a rather bad press on this Forum lately. IMHO.

Would that be why you bought an SV by any chance?
I'm sure alot of people on here would agree with you that an SV looks nicer, there really isn't any need to tell us, almost all of us own or have owned an SV.
Now, perhaps we can get on with a real discussion of the bikes? Saying one is better than the other is pointless, saying exactly what you like or don't like about each bike is useful.

The SV doesn't need standing up for, we are pretty much all people that love the SV, but like everything in life, there is more to it than just one thing.

Carsick, Fine, I agree that 'variety is the spice of life' and all that. But i thought this was a web site dedicated to the SV although, perhaps i am wrong! :?
The SV can keep with most modern 600's to a ton...

'shrugs' you haven't said anything new there. This is an SV site, yes, but that doesn't mean we have to sit here all day saying how fantastic the SV is.
Don't tell Jabba but...
I should just like to point out that, up until this post and despite the thread having my name on it, that my sole contribution has been a " "in the first reply.
Other than the occasional jocular "the SV sounds like a tractor" comment, I've never said anything disparaging about the SV. Not even with regard to its alleged sub-standard build quality.
Sorry for the interruption. Please carry on this conversation without me

And this wasn't where I thought this thread would lead either :?
Jabba, I think you should streetfighter your bike - providing you'll never take anyone on the back, because of the racing seaat crowl. It had a beastly front end. Yummy.
And it was black, not pink
eh when I said the cbr would do the SV I would like to point out:
1. Jordan I wasnt having a dig... I was commenting on the bits on dual carriageway when I hit the power band and left steve in my wake.... for a 15 yr old bike thats not bad... cos I held it there and watched how long it took him to get his sv up to the speed I was doing...
2. I LOVE my SV. I cant define what it is but it has my heart strings where the CBR just isnt getting that far. I LIKE the CBR but its lacking the fun in a way the SV has and I miss.
Doesnt mean to say that Im not going to be disparaging over the build quality and its ability to cope with high miles which the cbr eats with no problems.
The CBR has reliability over my SV - for example try starting the bikes covered in frost and I know which one will give you problems and which will start first time.
3. I find the acceleration on the SV is more gradual whereas when Im in the powerband with the CBR it just launches itself... its almost an instant kick in.
For top end I would pick a CBR above any other bike but for the fun of riding I want my SV...
4. Just because this is an SV site doesnt mean to say we cant:
a. appreciate other bikes
b. appreciate how other bikes differ ie il4 vs vtwin
c. be honest about the SV - and it - like ALL bikes has its faults.
having owners of other bikes on this site is one of the things which makes it so good... IMHO...
oh... Im in rant mode... off for chocolate to mellow me out...

Don't worry, the cake effects should have worn off by now. She will be merely experiencing a 'lesser' chocolate experience.
Hmmm... street fightered hornet. I could see that working. There are couple of attempts at streetfrightered Hornets around here but somehow they don't have that "spark". However if you want streetfighter-ish looks from the start just look at that benelli TNT =P~
theres no such thing as a "lesser" chocolate experience to one whos biochemistry is supremely sensitive to sugar... its all a wonderful experience of bliss melted with a complete lack of self control and interspersed with giggling fits.... kicked in already if you cant tell
the streetfightered cbr... is very very green... more green than I intended but in a metallic dark green kind of way... its looking damn sight better than when I got it...
will be posting the pics very soon...
