suzuki sv seat cowl fitment

fitted it looks good its a k4 but there is a small gap all the way round this normal? fits well but gap all round of 1/8th cm ish??????

they all do that
1/8th inch is quite good - I'm sure mine is 1/4" in places
and they rattle as well, and let in water

yeah i was wondering about the letting in water side of things but suppose its alright on the move rain doesnt seem to go there cos it'll hit front of bike and me and i dont park it in the rain i park under a set of concrete stairs outside a security office so got the lads there keeping an eye on it :D
it seems to fit alright but i thought if suzuki can make decent bikes why not spend a bit longer on it and add a little bit more in length and height so its snug all round seen some other bikes with ones that are spot on,but for 41pound suprised they could make something as well finished as it is. :D

thats normal-- esp on the top in the back- I dont know anything about the water though. I love mine though!!!

Buy some sealing strip from B&Q, foam rubber with an adhesive side.
Cut some strips and squares and fit it under the cowl, will stop the rattles dunno about the water ingress tho.

mine doesnt rattle finishes bike off with full fairings looks like full on sports bike but much more comfy for me,(anything is comfy if ya last bike is a gsxr400)

I just got my cowl this week, and needless to say I was very disappointed
with the fitment. The gap on mine was rediculous IMO for being a Suzuki made part.

However, I made a couple modifications and it sits flush all the way around. It isn't leave at the rear with the rest of the bike, but it doesn't look "wrong".

Basically all I did was remove the locking mechanism on the bike, sawed/cut off the bottom lip (about 1/8" of plastic), put it back on now being 1/8" shorter, removed the rear rubber cushions on the cowl, and put a spacer on the underside of the new bracket that was put in the rear.

Not sure which ones, of course, I can't get a cowl cos I need my pillion.

I don't think it's made by Suzuki directly, I seem to remember that it's made by the same Spanish firm that made the fairing lowers for the early shape bikes*, TPC, TCP? Can't remember exactly.

Still a fair point, it doesn't fit very well, whatever the price.


*There is, admittedly, a low degree of certainty here though. :lol:

I saw a cowl on the SV at the powerbronze stand at Ally Pally that fited over the pilion seat...now that is something that will interest me...when I get back from my holiday...if I still have enough cash left.(Seriously doubt it though) :?

The spacers I have seen talked about are the washers on the bolts in the rear. Those are the ones you are supposed to remove, but still an 1/8"-1/4" gap all around.
If you remove the spacers on the cowl that are in the front, it will be very loose, but the gap will still be there.
