Do bt 010s suit sv650s 99? wot sort of prices would i expect to pay for a pair loose(got mates who can fit and balance).
Am sure it has been asked before but does changing to 70 profile on the front worth the effort?
Yes they suit the SV just fine, price for loose is probably around £160 and as far as a 120/70 front it's debatable and something I'm more than likely to try in a couple of weeks when I put new boots on.

Works on the R6 so can't see why it won't on the SV. Should give you more traction when leant over but I guess it depends on whether you currently think the front is a little loose. One problem R6 owners had was side-stands being too short - so the bike leans that little bit more so just be careful the first time you use it!

Well, hopefully  .

Not sure why this would be so, as only the height of the tyre has changed
but I guess it depends on whether you currently think the front is a little loose.
Not loose it just feels twitchy and tips in too quickly once you get past a certain point IMHO
so the bike leans that little bit more
Again, not sure why this would be so.

JB, the higher profile will give a slightly larger contact point as the width of the tyre is the same but the profile will be higher - went fully leant over. Also, it shouldn't tip in quite as quickly allowing a more gradual (and confidence inspiring) roll in. It shouldn't really slow the steering noticably but you might feel much more stable mid-corner. Just don't fall off trying!

Okay I see your point

This is what I'm after but using your logic about a higher profile I would have thought that the opposite would be true and that it would tip in quicker as the profile is sharper?

If it does this I'll be a happy bunny. It does beg the question though, if the improvement is significant why hasn't this been recommended by other SVers and why didn't Suzuki (and indeed Yamaha with the R6) put on a 120/70 in the first place?

I think a lot of people think Yamaha got it wrong and just stuck to their guns but the new R6 has a full 70 profile so I think there's some sort of admission there! Kawasaki's ZX636R (I'm not sure about the 6RR) has been issued with a 65 profile but their website suggests putting a 70 profile on for racing because of the grip levels.
In regard to turn in, as the distance travelled will be slightly less with a 60 profile, the turn will be quicker, whereas the higher profile means more distance needs to be travelled (you are going over a higher bump effectively), hence you don't feel it drop like on a 60. The trouble with the R6 is it does feel like you are going to drop it, but Yamaha wanted quicker steering at the cost of mid-corner stability. The could have played with the head angles etc but the tyre's a chgeaper option. Personally, I found the difference noticable when really going for it.
Okay thanks for the explanation, it's interesting. One final point, as the 120/70 will be slightly bigger will this affect the speedo reading do you think?

Not sure if the speed is taken from the front wheel or front sprocket on the SV - on my GSXR its sprocket so only changes if you change the front sprocket size. It's a good point though as it may raise it may make the reading slightly lower although as clocks normally have a 10% margin error as long as you hit the clock speed limit you should be OK. Bet there's a rerally complicated calculation out there somewhere on profile/wheel size but I wouldn't know it.

Damn, now I'm not sure where my speedo reading comes from, I though it was sprocket now I'm not convinced - I'll be checking that out at the weekend!
Let me know how you get on if you do decide to go for a 70 profile but remember the side stand issue! Also, make sure your front fender has enough room, depending on the profile shape of the tyre, I think BT's are OK.
The speedo reads off the front wheel so I suppose there will be an issue there. As for the side-stand, once you've seen Rictus' bike lean at about 45 degrees on it's stand you'll know it's not a problem  .

If that's fitted then I want to know where you get yours done.

I was told by dealer that fitted my 120/70 front it would affect speedo bt not by much... I'm struggling to remember but think he said overread rather than under... but don't take it as gospel :?

Don't quote me on this  but I think it will under-read. The tyre will have a larger circumference so will travel slightly further each turn than the 60 profile. This means that the speedo will read for example 30mph but in fact you will be going slightly faster than that because of the larger circumference.
I have lost myself now.....Cheque please
your probably right... still aint been flashed by any cameras yet :D

Probably a combination of the fact that the speedos over-read anyway and the fact that speed camera sensors all seem to be set quite high atm.
