ok, well I am looking to make the bike a more comfortable ride for as cheap as possible. What do I need to do and who can help (rictus pointed me in the direction of FS and sudoxe). My sv is a battered 2001 s, so I don't think it's too easy to do much with it with out replacing stuff. Am I right here?

I'm going to buy one of these front suspension kits from JHS in the very near future as the older model front end is crap and completely unadjustable.

Which one of the kits?

Which one do I need to really help?

Good looking site though, do they need the bike or do they send you the forks and you replace it all yourself?

You only need springs and oil, although whether they are the best ones I couldn't tell you. When we did the spring swap day, some people went with progressive springs, some went with ohlins single rate. It's not too difficult a job, and something I'd be happy to talk you though.

The price for the springs on their own sounds about right, but the kits are expensive. You shouldnt really be spending more than £80 on springs or £10 on oil, and spacers can be made up from cheap plastic pipe work.

Unless its the 02 model, which is adjustable at the front. Still pretty budget though! :?

I think SJs SV has done over 20,000 miles though, so the oil could really do with changing. If we're going to do the job, might as well do it properly 8)

At the time my bike had 4000 miles on it, but I get your point. Just trying to work out an easier way of doing the front forks, than taking the things apart.

Buy the Maxton springs, they came supplied with a suitable spacer, adjustable caps are a waste of money, unless you already have them of course in which case they are just nicities, but not necessary.
