View Full Version : Airblade screen for K4.

In case anyone is thinking of getting one....

The K3 airblade screen fits nicely on the K4, but I had to shorten the two lugs on the instrument cluster cover (that the top 2 screen screws go into) so that the fairing and cover come together nicely. I kept the bits I sawed off the cluster cover so I can glue them back if I ever needed to fit the original screen.

Screen came with length of beading - I assume this is for the top edge of the screen, just to finish off?

I had to do the same with my Powerbronze one. I kept telling people this but no one seemed to know what I was on about. I now feel vindicated

Yes the trim is to tidy up the edge (and possibly to stop jaggedy bits in the event of an accident).

Yep - I just re-read thru some of the posts and the way you described it was probably clearer than the way I just did. Now that I've had to do the same, it makes perfect sense! Seem to be some others with a similar problem who haven't shortened the screw points though..

cheers

Al.

I just attacked the screen with a dremel. Took bloody ages, but made the fairing come together nicely.
I must admit, I didn't even notice the gap till I'd had the screen on a few weeks.

What's the finish like on the airblade screens? are they easily scratched?

Well mine hasn't scratched yet... For the money, you can't beat 'em IMHO

I had the Suzuki DB put on mine, fitted lovely, and it's tinted. A lot higher than the Airblade or Powerbronze, to keep the wind off you.
Has made loads of difference to keeping out of the wind, and getting you head down.

I think I paid 46 quid for it ??

I have just fitted an air blade double bubble screen to my 650S and after two hundred fast motorway miles I can certainly feel the difference.....the only problem is that a load of small cracks/crazing have appeared around the mounting holes! What did I do wrong....have I overtightened the mounting screws? Should I have used new screw fastenings?
Hmmm!

 Did you buy it Brandnew??? if so send it back asking for a replacement and why this has happened...
It's the first time I've heard of anything like this. I got mine second hand and Its still in pristine condition, even using the old fasteners.

They have some on ebay (airblade) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25623&item=7975668695&rd=1
for £29.95 + £8.50p+p which seems a good price.
I have been a bit torn about which one to buy as a number of people on here said that the F Fabri ones are the DBs, my local suzi dealer said that all their customers have preferred the Pyramid ones though.
Either way these are a lot cheaper than either an F Fabri or a Pyramid on.

Any opinions as i would rather not have to buy all until one suits.
