View Full Version : Bar Protectors
What are the best bar end protectors, mine just bent and dented the tank.
R&G have some on their website.
Are the bar ends the same for the K1-K4?
Got mine from here

very nice, same weight as std szuki ones so won't affect balance of bars, vibes etc

Depends on whether you want weighted ones or not, and how far you want them to stick out... i've used R&Gs and Motrax DHBs. The DHBs were small and unweighted, the R&Gs are small but weighted.
Basically, weights help with vibrations and depending on who you ask, bar shake. I never noticed the slightest bit of difference whether I had stock, DHM, R&G or none at all, I have to say, even when I was going through my shaking phase... But some people do, and every bike's different for this sort of thing.
How far they stick out is the other thing... The DHMs and R&Gs are shorter than the stock carbed bike bar-ends, which means they're less likely to touch down and bend your bars or yoke, but on the other hand they're less likely to take any of the damage and it'll all go on something else instead. This also means in a low-speed crash your bike is more likely to roll over its crash bungs (if it has them) and do more damage, it seems- this is what happened when mine got knocked over, the bike rolled right over and ended up lying on its side but with the wheels a bit upwards - snapped the clutch lever and scratched the top of the fairing and mirror. I reckon longer bar ends might have stopped this (so would pillion pegs)
last question is hard vs soft, and in this at least I'm absolutely sure that soft is better- absorbs rather than transmits impacts.

I guess they also double up as protectors.
Done i have ordered them.
I am not taking any risks this time, all the protection is going on my bike.
I cannot afford this expence again.
