TRXs have rather been forgotten, Yamaha never really pursued the idea very far, then abandoned it entirely and developed the engine a little further in the TDM.
However, those that know them know that they are really very good. The engine is a bit of a cheat, although it is a parallel twin, it has the crankpins offset at 270° to give it similar firing timing to a 90° V-twin, only partially successful, but the engine is a nice unit all the same.
And despite the usual quick-wear Yamaha suspension, the chassis is excellent, I don't remember the original brakes being lacking, but that one has been fitted with later calipers, so should stop nicely.
Get one, they're good, far better than they were ever given credit for, however despite, (or perhaps; because of?), their relative rarity, prices haven't held well, don't spend too much.

Hands up anyone who reckons the SV was the main reason they never took off? Cheaper and lighter for similiar performance...
When i have my own garage full of bikes, maybe there'll be one in there :)

There's loads on Autotrader at the mo....but they're all at least 100 miles from Edinburgh  Must admit it's a bike that always took my fancy :D Would love to give one a test ride!

nice bike horrid paint job!
I have always rather fancied one of those. Not mad for the yellow though. Didn't they do them in a blue similar to the early SVs?

It was the colour that caught my eye! Well, I like it. And nobody can ever say "sorry mate, didn't see you"
