Well, finally got to buy my Scorpion stainless steel race can with removable baffle at the Ally Pally Show on Sunday. Yesterday got to fit it!
Unfortunately I am crap at DIY and it took me far longer than anticipated but for normal people it would probably only take half hour to hour I would imagine!
Here is the Numpty's step by step guide!
1. Attempt to cut existing pipe 45mm from weld using a junior "value" hacksaw- hacksaw promptly becomes blunt after 5 seconds after barely scratching the outer surface.
2. Instead of going to buy a larger decent hacksaw to tackle this problem with ease- go out and buy an angle grinder with metal cutting disc (bare in mind my missus won't even let me use her hammer drill!)
3. Crap myself for 30 minutes while I attempt to cut pipe in correct place without trying to give my SV a single-sided swingarm!!! 30 minutes of brown trouser inducing anxiety!!! 8-[
4. Then the fun bit! Scorpion can fits absolutely perfect!!! :D Took around half hour for me to fit it whilst slicing my thumb on the hangers sharp edges whilst putting the rubber shroud on! Tightened all the bolts and washed the blood off from can and fittings (Seriously!!!)
5. Start bike up!!! Oh my god! What a sound! Absolutely huge grin inducing sound at tickover!!! Runs fine! No problems with fuel mapping!!! :D :D :D
6. Get kit on and go for 30 mile run (Thank God it was dry day!!!) Fantastic!!! Amazing noise and the bike was faster!!! It has turned it into a mental machine!!! I assume this was due to being lighter plus it releases a few horses! Note: This was all with baffle removed! :D :D :D
Also noticed that it was doing less revs at 90 mph than usual though must have a proper look on a run out! :D :D
All in all I am the happiest man in Kettering!!! £169 very well spent and also I can now compete with missus's Thundercat and her Scorpion Race Can!!! Unfortunately don't think I can compete with noise of her Nikons on her RD350LC -they were measured at a Track Day at 124 decibels!!!
I would thoroughly recommend the Scorpion Race Can!!! :D :D :D
