Hi Chaps, In need of a bit of advice. I am off to the MCN show on saturday, and have noticed that I have a £50 voucher (in Ride) for this range of exhausts - menaing that they will now be in my price range of just over 200 (wife and kids bleed me dry !). Now I am not the most mechanically gifted, so would like some feedback from those in the know : -
1. Are these exhausts any good ? I am not specifically after any noticeable increase in power, just some decent sound
2. How easy is it to fix these exhausts. I must admit to being a bit scared about cutting the existing exhaust system. Do you get some sort of pipe to connect to the cut pipe ? If so, will this pipe be able to be used if i put the old system back ?
3. How do I sneek it past the wife ?

1. They look really nice and sound really nice. The build quality is variable. Some people slag them rotten, many are happy.
2. Im completely inept and I managed. hack of your old can about 2 inches (check that!!!) from the weld, and stick the new on one with provided link pipe and fastners. I found a few blades on a junior hacksaw took about 20 mins, and was better than a larger hacksaw. Just get the cut straight. Or use and angle grinder. Its no bother at all.
The Evo is road legal with a choice of baffles you can remove to tailor the sound. I liked mine.

I like Blueflame, the twin outlet ones look good too.

I've got Blue Flame Evo
1. Yes it sounds fantastic with both the baffles out, as for power increase well I havent noticed any, seems to pick up better and the engine braking seems less fierce, couple that with a lovely popping sounds when you roll the the throttle off, it is very nice indeed
2. Took my 1hr or so to cut the standard can as I didnt have the right tool i.e. an angle grinder, yes you get a link pipe to fit the new can and also a link pipe to fit the standard can back on for MOT's etc, It was really easy to fit once I had cut the standard can off though.
3. Umh tricky one about the wife, maybe take her shopping for shoes or something like that and butter her up ?
Build quality is patchy though, I've lost of a rivet out of mine, also they are expensive, sure you could get something that sounds just as good for cheaper money
If you want to see what it looks like on the bike have a look at
http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=17893
Would I get another one, yes but not the tri-oval one I would get the oval dual port one as I think that looks better on a curvy SV
Hope this helps

They look the business- teh new one with the little blue flame and EVO on the plate is probably the best looking endcan logo, I reckon- and sound excellent... But they're not cheap and they've got a bit of a rep for bad fit and quality. You could do much worse I reckon.
Out of curiousity, does anyone know what the dual port ones look like inside?

Yes, they look alright :? ...I suppose.....what do you mean? They are like a neatly made perforated tube.
On the rivet question this happened to me. Also note that the tri-ovals dont have the nice rivetted on logo plate. I was told by Blueflame there had been a problem wiht those so you get stickers.

And the stickers look sh*t so I left them off mine

Aye, but there's one entrance and 2 exits, does the inner pipe split, or get larger? The oval's the right size to whack onto my WRP pipework ("WRP: works very well, sounds like s***" TM) so I've thought about getting one and modifying it for my headers... But I'm not sure the inner pipework will work out with the WRP cap.

Ah ok. Couldnt really tell on mine. The angled ports stopped me having a good look inside. I was interested too.

double and triple check that you have the correct link pipe fitment.
the can is ok. i have one, had it through winter and its not started to rust like i expected tho.
comes with baffles that are easy to put in and take out in no time at all.
fitting - dead easy.
just gotta warn you tho . . .customer services aint good.

Cheers Guys.
Some of you have mentioned that they are not cheap ? I have seen the titanium coloured (single) advertised for £260, so with a voucher should only be about £210.
I thought this was cheap compared to some of the can prices that I have seen, like Akraprovic etc, which are in 400 + range.
One other thing, I assume that the link pipe is extra ?, or are they extra nice and include it in thecost of the can ? ( )

Ok. I have had a long day. Noticed that DR Rich has already said that link pipe and fasteners are provided.
Still think it's a reasonable price compared to others, and if the sound is good (as most of you seem to say), then I might definitely be persuaded to part with some of my hard earned wonga on saturday

Akraprovic are expensive because they are full system - i.e. you replace everything from the cylinder to the end can.
The blue flame requires you to cut the existing pipe. It will come with a link pipe.

Wrong Squirrel, that £400's for Akrapovic slipon... RRP anyway. They're very expensive slipons... The full system would run you £700 or more IIRC.
£210's not a bad price for an endcan, but considering you can get Vipers for £50, it#s not cheap either :)

Well they were doing full systems at the bike show for less than £600, so unless the full bore pipework costs less than £200...

RRP, Squirrel. Not "As cheap as you can find at a show"

Leigh Bradbury got his Akrapovic full system with a Titanium Oval can for his K4 (well - it was a K3 system as they didn't do one for a K4 at the time, so he had to make a bracket for it!!) for just over the £500 mark, iirc. He bought it from a dealer and I do not believe he got any form of major discount!
Scorpion cans are about the same kind of money as Blue Flame but do better deals at shows, in my experience! At the NEC last year, Blue Flame were completely blanking me and wouldn't help me at all but scorpion were very willing to help. I also got my £320 Titanium Oval can with removable baffle for £160!!!!
And personally, I'm not keen on the way BF cans look any way!!
How to get it past the wife. Someone on here has a signature to the effect it's easier to get forgiveness than permission, so go buy and breeze it out. Oh and come home with a gift for her too with the £££ you've saved.

Sorry Flyin' Squirrel, I owe you an apology- they used to be around that much but they're far less now- just found a coupe of places doing the systems for £510 inc VAT, and M&P has them for £600- looks like they're doing some serious discounting.
It looks like they might actually not be doing the slip-ons for the SV any more, or maybe places just aren't bothering to stock them as it makes no sense to try and sell a £400 slip-on (I was right on that at least, an equivalent slip on- Bandit 600, say- is £400 for road legal  )

Yes the link pipe is included in the price
Yes compared to an Akraprovic etc they are cheap, its just you can get cheaper cans than this,

Akrapovic never did just an end can for the SV. Full system only.
Personally I don't like Blueflame cans. Prefare the rivetless cans myself ie Renegade , Micron , ...

OK just had another look at mine
Seems to me that inside the tri oval can, each outlet port has a seperate tube or pathway inside it for the exhaust gases to flow through, its got two of the perforated normal exhaust channels in it, I would take a picture but I dont know how well it would show it,
sorry to be vague, but hope this helps
I can feel another Blueflame Saga approaching

I seem to recall that Vinyl had his in bits (afer it fell apart anyway) - on second thoughts, probably better to not get him started on Blue Flame
Not sure if his was a twin port though.
I remember seeing a VTR with a pair of BF twin ports - sounded v.nice

I'll not be using hte standard bracket or even front endcap so I think i can get past the disintegrating can issues... And they do sound lovely.
I'll chop down the WRP can and see how it sounds first, I think, then maybe do some more thorough looking...
i've heard me m8's sv after he took his can off for cleaning... now that's some serious noise.... can we just cut the pipe off and leave it like that and tell plod that the can fell off and i didn't notice because i had me eye piece on?
got a 2 port oval with a high level link pipe for my k2 last year.within 6 months the casing cracked around the inlet to the can.i think this was caused because the bracket and hanger were to low down the can and the can was flexing too much.sent it back and they repaired it,saying they had had problems and changed the design.rather than chance it breaking again i got a mate to make up a longer bracket so it now holds the can nearly half way up.well pleased with it now. put a jubilee round the pipe to keep your cut straight if using a hack saw blade, fitting is easy.

Depends, do you want to be deaf by the end of the year? At 5000 revs I clocked mine with no can at 125db at one metre :)
WHAT!!!

I've got my RPM wrong there though, apparently it was 7000.
