Hello i have just got an ovil scorpion exhaust :D and am trying to take the DB killer out and am having problems. I have broken the silicone seal, but it looks like the bend on the out pipe is stoping it from comeing all the way out :( . Douse any one no if there is a trick to it. and will having it out give me loads of hassle from the plod. thanks

I think I've heard of a small spot weld to hold it in, otherwise it doesn't count as road legal when it's sold.
I think you just use a punch and a hammer to knock it off, though I'd wait for somebody who's done it to turn up and correct me, if I were you.

My mate had a round Scorpion and had a big problem getting the baffle out, when if finaly budged it looked as if it was fitted whrn the coating was still wet, coz you could see where it had stuck to the inside of the can.
He then brought a Titanium Oval from the Ally Pally and the baffle came out as easy as that..!!................(what ever 'that' is..!!..)

Maybe worth getting it hot first to soften up the coating.... :?

But there's deffo no weld on them though.

cheers.

'ello

there should be a little screw on the underside of the outpipe - remove this, grasp the baffle firmly with a pair of pliers & give it a good tug. If it's anything like mine, you'll now be sitting on the floor a few feet behind the bike feeling silly

If that doesn't work, try twisting it with the pliers, or possibly inserting the handle of a broom, or similar object, and gently exerting some pressure up/down & sideways to loosen it

As for Mr :plod: - all depends on what they're like in your area.
The London coppers take no notice because they see this sort of thing all the time, and anyway they have bigger fish to fry (hopefully :D ).

Some shops recommend that you bump it out with a broomstick through it from the other side... At the very least, it's funny if it gets stuck

Mine came out really easily. Took out the retaining screw , grabbed it with a pair of pliers and pulled, half expecting it to be a pig, but it more or less popped straight out.

Mine was a bit of a pig... In the end it came out but just through brute force and sheer effort!!

I used a big pir of pliers (had a better 'feel' than with mole grips & seemed more secure!) with lots of wiggling/twisting and plenty of WD40!
It did drag the bike backwards through the garage but it was a lot easier the next times I removed/replaced it!

Persevere - you won't be disappointed!!

Fundamental rule of anything, mate.
If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer.

I had the same problem with mine, use the broom handle method.

I hope plod round your area don't mind loud cans because the baffel won't go back in!!!

Yes I had a quick look at geting it back in and have no idear how that will happen. I still cant see how it came out :?. It just means that it will stay out  but i think i can get over it. :D

I was lucky. I politely asked the dealer to remove it before I collected it at the end of the day at Ally Pally as I heard that it could be a pig :)

i have a round stainless scorpion, got it brand new from scorpion a month ago... i thought that the whole idea of the scorpion is that once you remove the little screw at the opening of the exhaust, the baffle is just meant to slide out nicely and easily. Thats how mine is...james

use a flast bladed screwdriver and use it as a lever when putting the baffle back in , give the baffle a a gentle tap with the hammer and it will go back in no problems

I think perhaps, the oval cans are more difficult to remove the baffles from than the circular jobbies!?

I found tht mine got a lot easier to remove/replace the baffle when it had been done a few times!

I didn't put it back in much though - generally only to demonstrate the difference with & without the baffle and once when I had to leave the house at 5am!!
