Does anyone do this? Does it cost any more than just insuring one? The reason I'm asking is that surely you can only be riding one at a time...so it makes sense to only pay for the value of the more expensive bike. Your opinions and experiences please. :D :D :D

You will always pay extra, but it's not usually stupidly expensive.

Cost me about 100 quid more to have a Duke on my insurance.

50 quid extra for me to have the VFR added to the GS policy, cost Mrs Patch 25 to add the sidecar outfit to her VFR policy

when I had a gsxf, a gpz and a cg insured it cost me £7 extra for the two smaller bikes.

cos of my age - it worked out cheaper for me to have 2 seperate policy's

but here is a question.
im selling the 125 soon, yet i have about 7 months remaining on it. . .
do i HAVE to cancel the insurance when i sell it , or can i keep it running to build up my no-claims ?

no point getting a refund - cos im paying silly money for it anyway.

you can't leave it running, that would be fraud.
If you wanted the years no claims, stick the bike in a locked garage and sell it when the policy runs out.

ok - im not up on the insurance policy rules and stuff.

but i am selling it to a friend . . . could i not argue that i will ride it every now and then ?

It'll be in your contract somewhere that you have to tell them if you sell it.
Once that happens they will either want you to have a completely different type of policy or will cancel it.

cool, so might as well opt for the refund and get the 25 quid back :)

yeah, either that or see if you can add your mate onto your policy and only sell him the use of the bike for the next 7 months unless he smashes it, in which case he pays you the extra.

yeah suppose,
cos he is a mate - im more or less gonna be giving him the bike

mabe a hundred quid or something.

if you have use for another no claims bonus, could be worth keeping.

yeah i suppose.
but since i already have another paralell no claims (getting confusing)
i dont think ill be owning 2 bikes again for a while anyway.
