is it normal for them to look a bit rusty after a while?

i guess mine had been stood for a while before i bought it and noticed it was rusty, nothing major, just a little discolouring. I thought it might fade off now the bike is getting used but hasn't.

mines not rusty as such but even after a soak in paraffin it won't come clean....

Don't care anyway tho at least my bike looks used..... The aftermarket sprockets are much better at keeping their colour

i read somewhere that if you change the sprocket you should replace the chain too?

They tend to wear together, chain and sprocket, however i have just bought a Talon 46 rear sprocket for 18pounds and my chain has 3000 miles on it and it's ok. If your chain has say 10,000miles on it I would change, both. This is what a new Talon looks like.

oooh that looks tasty

i got no history with my bike but i think a chain may have snapped once as it took a few bits of the bike with it.

just over 8k so might give it a nice new chain and sprocket for the summer

Pics or link please?

I'm on 11k on the originals and they all look like theyve hardly had any use at all tbh.

But i saw Jonboys chain/ sprocket last week at Soho and thought "mmmmm, must get mine looking like that"

Mine has that same Talon rear sprocket (£35 delivered for front and rear directly from Talon) and an Iris Gold X-ring chain delivered for £55 from BFM.

Expect to pay £40ish for fitting, though next time I'm definitely going to attempt to do this myself.

I have the same, and I DID fit it myself saving the said 40 Squids.

One thing I will say about the anodised sprocket is that if you have a scott oiler fitted it will wear out the anodising and you will have a silver line going round the sprocket.

With regards to jonboys' you don't even want to go there :) .I take it you saw his pipes. Seen pics but apparently a lot of people also go mmmmm   . He could probably make the chains/sprocket on a CG look good.

Cheers
