Very, very tasty me thinks.....
.
I don't think so Steve, a paintjob like that has been available as a factory option on the new shape SV since it came out in 2003. I think what you've got there is just the 2005 rendition.

I saw that in a mag or somewhere. With a cowl and the back tidied up I think that will be very smart. Would get the SV1000 sales up a bit I imagine.

Eh? Where Japan? I would have thought we'd have seen one or two. The only ones similar Ive seen are Cresent stuff.

It's supposed to be up to 118hp now.

Like it
I don't.
Well, it looks ok, I just don't think it's particular fantastic, but then, I've never been into the gsxr type look.
All black with a few dark silver bits, that's the way.

I definitely read somewhere that the whole setup would be more TL-like, but dont know eher and cant rememebr details. Im certain that it was reckoned to come in with more.
Suzuki.com says:
New black-painted frame, swingarm, and wheels for more sport appearance
Increased engine performance with higher 11.6:1 compression ratio, 20% less crank inertia, larger 54mm throttle bodies, shorter airbox inlet tube, revised cam timing and two air pressure sensors per cylinder for more precise fuel injection volume control
I first saw one a few weeks after getting my SV, at it's first service. There was a thou will a similar paintjob being collected from Sturdey's in Tonbridge. I believe it was an £800 option.
I've also seen it on a 650 in the show-room at P&H in Crawley.

If I understand correctly, the K5 SV1000 has an uprated engine which is a derivative of the TL1000 engine! It looks very nice but it would lovely in the good old SV blue colour I reckon!!! :D

I'm in agreement with Carsick. I can see why people might like this and that it might help to sell the 'thou, but I'd never buy a bike painted like this. "All black with a few dark silver bits" sounds exactly like my type of bike.
Sorry to go off on a tangent whilst yous are all drooling over that cool looking bike.
I like the grip plate / chequer plate (or whatever its called). Now do you not think your bike would look cool sitting on that in the garage (for those that have a garage, of course).
Strange, turned on by sheet metal in plate form........mmmhhhh.

I have to say that the single worst thing about the SV is the paint schemes, or rather the lack of them.... You can have it in 1 colour at a time only......
Having a "design" on a bike makes it more eye catching (Yes I know some of the latest CBR design are a bit sick, but what do you expect from Honda?). Personally I'm not a lover of the blue & white GSXR colours and think some of the other colours look much better (maybe that's why I got a black one  ). I have to say, other than that absolutely stunning SV Thou' with a green Rizla paint job, this has to be the best looking SV yet, IMPO.

 I just missed out on a sheet from work, I had the same idea but someone beat me to it. It was just the right size for the bike too. Dunno how I would have got it home on the bike though

Mmm... Too many dark colours together, just looks cluttered. I like the single-colours myself, but the 400s were available with GSXR-style colours, if you really want a multi-coloured SV :)

That's what the SV-Thou engine has been all along! Let's say that they had a few knocking around after the TL production only lasted a few years. Nicknames like "Widowmaker" don't help sell a bike!
They tuned it down from the 120 bhp of the TLR, so that the SV didn't inherit the reputation of the TL, and having obviously learnt from the TL, I've recently realised that the Thou's come with a steering damper.
I think as the SV has proved itself in being a friendly handling bike, they've had confidence in releasing it with the engine brought back to full chat.
but its still pointy......
The TL is a classic

It's not old TL engines they used, mind, it's new ones built to a different spec but derived from the same lump.. I read there's 70 components different in it from the TL.
I think they were aiming it at the "soft twin" market for some reason, and then noticed that every review says "Shame it's not as mental as a TL" so they're doing the right thing and giving it a bit of killing power back :)
But it's still pointy.

every new year equals pointier bikes. they wouldnt do it if it didnt sell their bikes... i think the pointier the better as for as bikes, makes em look faster and cleaner.

There is a current trend towards pointier bikes, yes.
For me it varies, some pointy bikes I like, some I don't.
Some curvy bikes are georgeous, some aren't.
