after getting the scorpion fitted i noticed the idiots had done it looses on removing the baffle the pipe moved from the joint where it was originally cut.i have tightened it by hand,i can feel some blowing of air from the area is this normal or will it damage the engine if left? do i need to just give it a good tighten ive got a habit of overtightening things so i dont wanna do that.

sorry is a load of rubbish what im saying is.i put my hand on my exhaust when removing the baffle and the whole exhaust moved so i found that it moved from the area of where the original pipe was cutt and scorpion put on,so i tighened the sleeve and i can still feel a bit of air blowing.is this normal.do i need to give it more of a tighten.i normally overtighten things u see.is the slight blowing normal when u put a different pipe on cos i think it shouldnt

if its anyhelp mine also blows a little bit were the can meets the two pipes from the front and rear cylinder, ive tried to tighten it but i think it needs a new gasket type thing, its been doing it for about 1000miles or so and it doesnt seem to do any damage. Ive also got a scorpion can buts its a complete system

This is the worst tped thread in SV650.org history! Where the can meats the pies? Mmm, canned pies.

My CCC low-level pipe blew like a whale there, gave me a wonderful backfire on engine braking... I miss it still. If you're bothered by it, get in there with the silicon sealant. I used the Halfords stuff because I'm the sort of person that always buys the expensive stuff marketed especially for the job. Everyone else uses whatever high temp plumbers silicon sealant they can find cheap in B&Q.

ReLoAd, where did you find a scorpion full system? Or is it a scorp can on someone else's pipework?

my exhaust runs really well no back fires or anything like that just blows a little surely scorpion would have made them to fit better?

You shouldn't have any exhaust gases coming from anywhere other than out of the outlet itself!

If there is gas coming out before it has reached the end of the exhaust can, this could, in theory, decrease performance.

Just take the can and the link pipe off and go at it with silicon sealant (fairly sparingly at first, though!). I just used standard B&Q clear silicon... The cheapest they had and had no problems! Don't really see the point of paying a fortune for high temperature gear - it's silicon so won't have a major problem with heat any way! The only thing I would point out is that Avocado coloured silicon looks a bit pants on your exhaust, so you're probably better off using clear!!

Also, don't forget to do it while the exhaust is cold and leave it for a while to set before running the engine or the gases may blow the silicon away!

I think you'll find that it's fairly commonplace to silicon round the joints whatever happens! You have a gasket of some sort at pretty much every other joint on the exhaust side of the engine, so why expect the exhaust can itself to be any different!

As I mentioned, blowing can decrease your power and can even wear away at the pipework!

lossened it all of made sure it was all in position and gave it a proper tighten.seems to have stop the blowing that i can feel.now a decision weather to take the baffle out

CCC told me to use ordinary silicon to seal my link pipe

To sound stupid i dont know, when i got the bike i had to mot it and the dealers told me the stock can was sha**ed so while i was getting the bike done i got the new stock can and a scorpion at the same time. The scorpion can came with all the pipe (not pies) work, as it was boxed im just asuming its a complete system.

slaggin me off for bad typing.
so most people use silicone sealant on there exhausts then.ive really tightened it up quiete alot dont no if i should tighten any more cos its fairly tight now.gonna check for air tomorrow when it starts from cold,if it is blowing ill go and get some silicone from halfords? how long does silicone sealant last?
