I seen a thread the other day about someone taking there bike in for an MOT and having to replace a brake disc, and im just curious, my bike isnt due for an MOT until January 2007, so should have enough time to save for the worst

But for most things the suzuki/haynes manuals advise changing parts/hose/oils etc at regular intervals or when the are visibily damaged/worn, but my question if anyone can help is 'how do you know when its time to change the discs?? and should you change both front discs at the same time when they are due for a change,

It says in the sv650 manual to "Replace the disc if the thickness is less than the service limit or if damage is found"
data:-front disc thickness: Service Limit 4.0mm (0.16in) Run out 0.30mm
rear disc thickness: Service Limit 4.5 mm (0.18in) Run out 0.30mm
Chapter 7-69,7-83 respectivley.
and yes you should change both front disc's and the pads at the same time, expencive but youll save in the long run.
hope this helps. 8)
