Well looks like the camping site is decided... who's camping and who's b&b'ing and who's making a weekend of it... ?
I fancy taking the friday off and going down there, chill out friday, ride around saturday and have a laugh and big rideout sunday
I may even stay over sunday and ride back monday
if no-one else is, then i'll go with the flock...

Ian et al,
what are the plans? am now planning to go across to France the weekend before and take whole week off but need to know when we are setting off to Cotswolds so I can book my ferries etc.
I have my tent sorted, just need to book campsite. Has anyone else booked yet?
Who's definately going or a definate maybe?
Steve.
I may now not be able to make it.... need to sort a few things out... may be a case of me actually riding up on the day EARLY!!
I can definitely go and am happy to camp the night so maybe we shoud sort out a list. Once i know that a few are def happy to go and camp i'm happy to book.
im thinking of going on the annual ride out but cant camp or b & b it im affraid,im gona have to ride up on the day so anyone else planning on doing the same ?
Yeah i'm quite likely to ride up on the day, reckon it'll be 1h 30m to 2hr's taking main roads....
some of the soho/kenters are riding up on the day so think there will probably be a decent group ride up there....
Just need someone good with directions to lead

I will probably go for the day but this is completely weather dependent
after all we wouldn't want mummy's little sugar lump to melt
The main thing would be getting an early start and poss break the trip to
Burford with a tea break
well ive definatly got the day off work so weather permitting il be going.whats the plan for meeting up,whats the best way to go ????
pegasus
30-05-05, 08:20 PM
the location is halfway down the A40
so i reckon A12 - M25 - A40
also won't be deciding about the day till I see the foecast later in the week....
reckon a40 is best idea
Heya! Due to some unforseen circumstances, I will be going up on sunday morning as well (weather dependant of course...I still dont like getting wet! :? ) Mind if I join you?
pegasus
31-05-05, 05:30 AM

31-05-05, 02:25 PM
What sort of time are you planning to ride back ?
My wife doesn't let me go out too long...
Ok I just need to know what Visor to use
Sunday sounds good!
So i take it we all meet on the A12 somewhere ? Any plans yet ?
i agree on that route vtln3 :D looks good to me.id suggest i meet you at witham somewhere ??? is there a meet up on friday ? we can all discuss it then.
I can meet up at m25/a12 junction services 8) Saves me having to go all the way into essex to just come straight back out again (providing that is the route of course?) :D

I have just been going through the 5day F/Casts for Sunday and the three I consulted are all forecasting rain as far as High Wycombe [1/2 way from Essex on the A40] on Sunday,so I might be an absentee
Call me a wimp if you want but I don't need a drenching on the way there and back after all I ride my bike to enjoy it,not to prove anything
Bye the bye Saturday is forecast sun/cloud so anybody going down on Sat should be OK apart from the trip home as it is only cloudy around Burford on Sunday The weather front starts a bit further East
I am not responsible for this doom and gloom blame Mr M FISH
On the bright side he is not famous for being correct so perhaps we should wait and see what 7:00am Sunday brings YES I AM BORED

Well done that man Seth what speeds did you enter for the transit time
as you are on dual carriage way till you come to the Oxford North ring road and just as a passing comment it has speed cameras on it at some of the 50mph limit bits I do this route 2 or 3 times a month so if I am going and you would prefer using the old A40 its easy and a lot less boring than M25/M40 to Oxford My normal journey is to Witney and Burford is only a bit further down the same road but as its by truck my journey time is not any use [3hrs 15 mins=56mph max]
What time will I be meeting you at the m25/a12 junction on sunday?
SpankyHam
03-06-05, 03:31 PM
Gone a bit quiet...
Who is actually going to go ? Meet up at Boreham ?
If the weather is looking ok and I feel well enough i'll be going, You guys who are definatly going sort where you are gonna meet and a time and i'll hopefully see you there
if the meetup is a12/m25 junction i'd suggest the garage at the a1023 sliproad off that roundabout. where the closed down littlechef is. This meeting place suits me
if the weather is not to wet il be going along for the day
just need to arange a meet up point with anyone else thats going
well i'd say a12/m25 junction is easiest for people coming from different places....
then its a case of getting to the a40 and following that most of the way...
I guess 6:30am - 7am is gonna be the best sort of time ??
oh and i'm not leading... my sense of direction isn't good
pegasus
03-06-05, 04:41 PM
i dont mind leading.... i was up there on wednesday
so shall we say leave the a12/m25 garage @ 7am then ??
I've printed off an a3 map for the rideout and turn by turn route in case of getting lost....
Have no idea how to get to burford tho
good lad vtln3 ;o) where do you wana meet as im sure you'll come past me en-route
Dicky Ticker
03-06-05, 05:14 PM
Leave REPEAT --Leave the BP Witham 6:30 Down to the A12/M25 for
7:00 Round to South Mimms for 7:30 [Truck stop section for a quick tea/
buttie] carry on M25 and down the M40 towards the A40 turn off towards Oxford about 4miles down the A40 there is a layby with toilets and a snack bar [Don't know if it is open on a Sun,very doubtful] carry on round the Oxford North ring road ,this is the A40,under the A34 following the signs for Witney next stop Burford
------- OR ----
After Sth Mimms take the A41 towards Aylesbury then on to Bicester take the A34 South towards Oxford/Newbury and pick up the A40 at the West side of Oxford--Witney--Burford
P.S. Where is the meet up point in Burford and can I get a cuppa there???
SpankyHam
03-06-05, 05:57 PM
leave a12/m25 garage @ 7 sounds good to me.
I shall be there.
When does the actual rideout start ??
@justmacsv650
It's the little chef carpark.
hey justmacsv650,

alas nope, I'm being the good other half on sunday (chelmsford farmers market and westminster phili orchestra in hornchurch) so going to miss this one
plus the idea of those unfaired motorway miles makes me twitch and start speaking in tongues
Good, I shall see you at the ex-little chef site at the m25/a12 junction at 07h00 on sunday morning then :!:

GENTS and any Ladies reading as far as this master plan goes its great, but and it is a big BUT, if it is raining its a no go for me and alas this mornings forecast for Sunday with regard to Witham-High Wycombe and
Burford is crap. :( Lets not despair we will wait and see what tomorrow brings. Looks like it will be a last minute decision so lets keep our fingers crossed that it improves.
Cheers all Mac

04-06-05, 07:55 AM
ok i,ll meet you all at the BP boreham cause they have got a mcdonalds and might be able to blag a muffin.. at 6.30am
Just looked at the forecast and I'm thinking that perhaps an oversuit purchase will not be a bad idea :?:
It only looks to be getting wet from about 12h00 over in burford though?
yeah rain gonna hit the rideout route in the afternoon but should mostly be dry..
gonna see how I feel in the mornin as I still feel like **** atm
Dicky Ticker
04-06-05, 07:26 PM
I know its a rather negative attitude but the forecast for Oxford Region is rain for most of the day As you are no doubt all aware to go over to Burford, take part in the rideout and return home is going to be in excess of 300miles,a long day and very tiring if wet,to be honest not pleasant or enjoyable
As the weather forecast for Anglia Region is more favourable would anybody be interested in staying at this side of the country as an alternative being as the rain isn't forecast till early evening
Obviously this is a personal choice, but I would rather do 200miles up the coast someplace in the dry rather than get sodden wet
Very late posting this but I have been holding off for the latest weather predictions and I have no wish to influence anybodies decision, just an idea for the wimp minded me especially
Sorry if I'm being a killjoy
Mac
well i've seen forecasts on 3 channels and on 7 different weather websites and rain isn't likely to hit the area till around 2ish at the earliest so trip back will be ahead of the rain, maybe a little wet...
My allover waterproofs have fallen apart so will be trousers only and i'll still risk it, its only once a year
that is if I don't think i'll pass out
probably see you lot in the mornin
well whats everyone doing then ??? if its dry wen we wake up is everyone going ??
SpankyHam
04-06-05, 09:02 PM
yes at least to mc donalds
right i spoke to mac & were gona head down & meet up with you guys.rek its a good idea if we all say yea or na to what we wana do,those that wana risk the rain can go & those that think it might get abit wet can choose to do their own thing.
