I may have just wet myself
Yoshimura full system arrived by courier today! tried three local motorbike shops this afternoon to see if they could fit for me but no joy
So technical questions is....can I fit this myself? is it tricky? possible with the SV toolkit plus some extra sockets?
Cheers for your help!
*goes off to rub exhaust gently and whisper sweet nothings to the downpipe*
won't fit it or just can't fit you in ?

I don't know about doing it with the SV toolkit, but I don't think it's an especially difficult job.

is it a problem that it's got a small metal plate saying "not for road use" riveted to the end of the can?

Define problem.
If you mean is it legal on the road, then no, it isn't.
but that doesn't stop most people.

So most of the loud exhausts I hear on the road are "not for road use"?
sorry if i sound stupid! just trying to clarify whether i can get away with putting it on or whether it's going to be too loud....
put it this way, It won't pass an MOT, so don't throw your old stuff

AFAIK If you get stopped by the police for having an illegal exhaust the chances are you will get a rectification notice and will then have to have it swapped back and prove to the police you have done this. (You could always then switch it back again). They could impose a fine but not points on your license.
FWIW I travel to Ireland on my bike a lot. I have an ART exhaust with 'Not for Road Use' on it. Going through the ferry ports I always get stopped by the police. Only once have they had a good look at the bike... when I lost my number plate on the way there  and even then they didn't notice the not for Road use. Just take it easy if you see police and don't open the throttle too much.

ok. makes sense to hold onto the old exhuast anyway in case I sell it.
So if I'm going to fit it myself, am I right in thinking it's a case of taking of the lowers, then undoing the single allen key bolt next to the rear shock, and the two allen key bolts at the front pipe? will there be washers underneath that nee replacing? (bike is 1yr old) will I need exhaust paste? or is it a case of bolt off, bolt on?
Thanks for all your help and advice chaps. invaluable site this and a friendly bunch to boot!

It was a finders fee from my boss for getting someone in to work with us. He got it from a guy at Two Wheels mag, apparently it was special order from japan....
I've got the details of the Uk Distribution centre it came from if that's any help?

err.... original exhaust still sitting in the workshop where i picked my bike up.....not looking forward to taking that home
I took a ride down to Crescents (BSB factory / dealer) today and got a price on both the Akrapovic and Yoshi systems and slip ons and I'm very tempted by the yoshi as thats what they use on the GSXR race bikes but it carries quite a hefty price tag! Would be interested to know how you get on with your system.
P.S chris svk3:- Yoshi slip on tri oval = S/S £361, Ti £440, carbon £487 (non legal). Legal slip on in round only S/S £356, Ti £400. System is £629 which is oval.

Hello mate. I'm loving the sound of the new system, and it really looks the part. Need to invest in an air filter and a power commander though. :? Having the system with no other changes has lost some mid-range power and made the bike feel quite lumpy. To be expected Isuppose... more money though...grrr
I've been chatting to a (former) fellow biker here at work and he had a GSXR 750 with the cyclone yoshi and said the slip on tri-oval's don't sound as good. I was thinkin of going down that road as I dont think I could afford a system with the pittance they pay me  but there is an akrapovic system available with removable baffle which i thought may be a good idea?
P.S I'm lookin for a new job if anyones offering! Experienced electronics technician although willing to change careers! Must pay me lots!

Hmm be careful as I see that shipping is $80+ and you will also possibly have to pay an import tax / charge but I think you can get round it if you are shipping business to business ie not home. I once got a few (non bike) items from america and the following week got slapped with about £20 - £30 in tax through Fed Ex as they pay it for you then you pay em back. Have a hunt around first and I'll see if I can find out for ya :?
