View Full Version : SELKent Rideout: When?
Well... it seems that most people are up for it  , so the question is when?
As I look out of the window, it's actually still snowing, so my instinct tells me "not just yet". So, being the democratic community that we are... we have a traditional poll - please cast your votes.
Easter is kind of obvious, but I expect most people will want to avoid that. Please, if Easter is not the only date you can do, then vote that way, so for those that really can't make that date still get the choice to come along.
As for routes... I've had a couple of suggestions already, so if anyone has some views on a general starting point and a general direction, speak up!
3rd of April for me, I'm busy on the earlier ones

I've put down for the"any" option, but do still have work to do on the Beast, so a weekend or two off would be nice.
If I'm to meet you lot, don't arrange it for the weekend of 1-4th April. Any other time I should be okay :D

That's the weekend of the first BSB meeting of the year (at Brands Hatch) and also the weekend closest to my Birthday!! :D
I think I can manage any of the others though!!

Im with Tim on this one. My birthday is on the 4th so I will must likely be very drunk over that weekend :drink: . Other than that any time would suffice.

Yes anyway, I voted for anytime.
What about the Sunday the 10th April, I can sort out a route, if you lot want, hopefully down to Camber, stop at the chippy for some light refreshments etc etc.

I can only make after 11th April, as I'm on Easter break in the states
Well... what chilly weather we've been having recently! Brrr!
Well I think Easter is out completely, which is fair enough... and I'm not sure we're going to get this in before then now. So I guess it's really between two dates:
Sunday 3rd April
or
Sunday 10th April
I think I'm keen for the 10th, gives us that extra bit of time to get everyone organised, as well as planning a route. Most of all, it'll hopefully be a bit warmer and drier than it is now! I hope!
As for the route - all suggestions welcome and considered!
I've had some suggestions already. I'm keen to avoid Box Hill... mainly because it's so congested, and the roads are terrible - loads of time wasting too, and difficult when in a pack of bikes.
One possibility is to meet at the Oakdene (this is SelKent afterall)... head south to Rye, then turn west to Horam for lunch/tea at Wessons... then if the weather is holding out, continue west into Sussex towards Horam, before heading back north and east to London/Kent. This route allows us to keep relatively clear of the North-South roads that litter Kent and Sussex, and stick to the long country A and B roads.
Comments please?
The only problem I can see is that the 10th is the first race of the MotoGP...
All I can say is watch the hi-lights, and get on your bike for some fun social riding rather than the usual dozey commute!
The 3rd April - weather permitting.

not 27th for me - egg run in northampton that weekend.... hopefully next weekend for me if I survive the track day at silverstone on the thursday :D

You know Bill I was almost getting tempted until I read that!!!!!!!
I can't do the weekend before so looks like I may have to either miss it or make it a short visit based around the motogp. Will definitely be watching that. 8)
Highlights just won't do for the event i have been waiting on for 5 months
Okay.... well I guess the 3rd April it is then!
That way we can all watch the MotoGP the following weekend... probably at Tim's house!
I'll draw up a route for comment with times and meeting place!

Here here! Bung the old video on. The social bit sounds more appealing. Plus it gives my shoulder more time for healing.

I'm sure I could manage to have a few peeps here to watch the action on the projector if you fancy it!
Dude... with that screen you could show it to the majority of the forum without someone not being able to see!

Do you mind if I tag along :) , the bike is getting pretty fed up with its daily commute and i'm sure it would relish the thought of getting into fourth gear  . what do you say Treacle :?:
