View Full Version : New Caberg V2 anyone?
Anyone seen/tried one of these (http://www.cabergv2.co.uk/) yet?
Seems to me to be a full-face Justissimo, with the integral flip-down sun-visor.
Looks good value to me at around the £100 mark for plain colours.
Good value yes, and I do like the integral dark visor but how on earth do you remove the Caberg label?
.
I have a old Caberg flip front and I refuse to use it now as it to noisy, and for some reason no matter what de-mister I use, it always mists up. I'd want to try one first or know someone who's used one first.
Yeah i'll wait to try one first, I need a new helmet, flip front would be useful
Yeah i'll wait to try one first, I need a new helmet, flip front would be useful
But this ain't a flip-front :?
Wrt noise, flip-fronts are generally noisier than full-face so comparing the V2 to the Justissimo probably isn't valid.
I might try one in the spring, when I will probably do more long journeys. Can't beat a flip-front in town, though.
ooops my mistake, Didn't read it properly, when I saw the word justissmo i presumed...
nah, better options for full face i prefer

they're nice helmets. pretty light, nicely styled and very well priced! don't know about noise though. we got them in at work and within 5 days we had to re-stock as we'd sold most of our allocation

I like the new sliver 'Justissimo' (with graphics)... I've always liked the flip-down sun visor feature... Neat touch
The big problem I had with the Justissimo was that the chin guard kept rubbing against my chin which was so irritating I didn't buy it. Hopefully the V2 is better designed.

Have you got a big chin :?:
Not that I'm aware and I'm not the only person to have made this observation. God know what Bruce Forsythe would make of it!
.
My chin touches the chin guard if I do a Jimmy Hill impression but my brother who is nicknamed Chinny cannot close the chinguard comfortably. The Just One Plus I had before was fine in this respect though.

Just bought one of these....

First impressions are that I am impressed.....if that makes sense :?. I noticed that the road/wind noise is greater than my old lid but the ventilation and lack of misting at 30mph is braw !!!.
I like the internal visor. I have ordered a mirrored one to replace the standard smoke.
i just got one too. waiting for the sun to come out to try it now. got a mirror visor for the inside too.
cheers
I've got one on order but there's a supply problem apparently (well at least for the smaller dealers, and I'm doing my best to support my local bike shop - where I also get a discount ;)). A victim of it's own success I believe.

I've just come back from buying one to replace my AGV that hit the deck in my little hiccup a few weeks back. Just gotta wait to get the bike back and then i can see how it goes, but so far impressed nice and light, and the internal visor is genius. :D
Where can i order these mirrored internal visors people are mentioning?
j and s,
do them for £29.99
ebay have some too.

Thats where i bought my lid, if i'd have asked here first i could have ordered one this morning. Oh well another trip to J&S.
Thanks :D
Yep i've got one aswell been out twice and feels far better than my old lid, for comfort and noise. No misting at all and the vents aren't bad either.
All in all in my opinion a very good buy and blue matches my bike (Well my lid has no scratches so close enough!)
As for the caberg sticker you can't remove it its been clearcoated over the top!

Just tried one on today, best fitting helmet (for my head) I've ever tried. Pretty light and me breathing like a sex offender with the visor down didn't mist it up. The internal smoked visor is trick as you like and works well. Good helmet if you wear glasses too (mine were in with the internal visor down at the same time).
So, a matt black one is on order for me. :D
(just realised I need a smiley with a helmet on)

I tried one of these on at the weekend and was really dissapointed
The foam/padding seemed really hard and uncomfortable, the breath guard got caught on my chin and the inner visor hit my nose
My existing lid is a Schuberth Concept - flip front, with inner visor
Lots of space between the front & my chin - maybe I'm spoilt :D
Well those Schuberth Concept's are like 3 times the price of the Caberg.
I had the Caberg Justissimo and have just started using my Schubert S1 this week. You cannot really compare the two. The Schubert is way better than the caberg which explains teh price difference. The caberg was gr8 at first but with time the anti fog wore off and no matter what I tried it kept misting up. Engine/wind noise is almost inexistent on teh Schubert, I read somewhere it is the quietest helmet on the market? There is a Helmet test in Ride this month and Shoei was best with 3 seconds and the Schubert was one of them.
Anyway I do not regret the £300 I spent on the lid!
I bought a V2 last Friday and have to say for the £90 it cost me that it's excellent value for money.
Plus points
1) Fits perfectly.
2) Inner visor is near perfect (nowhere near my nose Toady  ) and will save me around £50 a year that I would have spent on tinted inserts. It's also wonderfully convenient, is road legal and allows glasses to be worn too.
3) Both main visor and inner visor are excellent for anti-misting.
4) First class styling, it looks expensive.
Minus points
1) Noisy. Not quite as bad as my AGV but almost.
2) Some of the components are a little cheap but what do you expect for ninety sovs?
3) Optional fitted chinguard is a little short.
Overall am I happy? Absolutely, a good buy. But like anything else, everyone is a different shape and has different needs. Try one on in the shop, it could just be for you.

Okay just seen this on this satellite site:

One point I've found is that there's a special way of getting the inner visor back in (the maual is total crap, naturally). After trying for an hour and a half  I finally found the easy way is to remove the inner visor slider control (on the out side of the helmet), push the visor all the way in, then refit the slider by tilting it in towards the helmet. Job done in seconds.
I'm starting to think that the inner visor is one of the greatest inventions of the 21st century.
.
will agree on the inner visor revolutionising having a tint.
DON'T recommend the iridium inner visor it scratches and marks in seconds
yes its noisier than my old shoei BUT much better fit for my head and still haven't had it mist up after 3 months of use!

Thanks for the tip, I'll stick to the dark tinted then.
.
I've been using a Caberg flip front for a year now and covered 15000 miles with no probs at all! It never mists, doesn't leak, gets used in really foul weather and always cleans up fine. And the inner visor is genius. I really like Caberg helmets and well worth the small price!

Finally picked mine up, initial impressions are very good- easy to operate all the vents etc. with gloves on. V. noisey with vents open, but acceptable with them closed. Looks absolutely mint too. Loads of non-bikers at work spotted it and commented on it.
Has anyone here who has go one worked out how to fit the windstopper? I can see where it's meant to go, but the middle of the leather-like material gets caught on the chin vent switch and won't go in far enough. It is at the front/bottom of the helmet, at the bottom of the chin guard that this is meant to go, right? Any tips on fitting it?
Cheers.

Not really sure where you gettin the problem, mine slipped straight into place with the cut out bit for the vent switch. Just push it into the gap beween the plastic bit that says open and closed and the plastic that lines the front of the helmet.

Cheers Ed, when I was trying initially, I was trying to put the plastic bit in horizontally, rather than vertically in. I couldn't work out how to get it behind the ven switch, whereas it actually goes down the front. All in place now and looks like it should work well. Quick motorway blat to test it tonight. :)
Thanks again.

It fits in like you describe but I too have found that once on you can't operate the front chin vent. If E.D. has a solution can she please illuminate? Thanks ;).

Just fitted mine in vertically and the bit by the vent switch is just wedged down the front of the vent switch (the side nearest your neck as you'd wear it). This makes the switch a bit tighter, but it seems to work still.

Mine fits just right the cut out bit in the middle leaves enough room for the switch to operate fine.

Well lucky you!
I'll have another play then ;).
.
Okay had a play and found the reason I was having trouble was that the material on the windstopper thingy is out of true with the plastic. Mrs jonboy said "yes I can see that from here" from across the room.
So I've fiddled and pushed and prodded and it's just about acceptable and I can only just work the switch but not with the helmet on, but no great problem.
However I think the amount of material is less than required to do it's job properly as it keeps slipping back over my chin. Mrs jonboy has agreed to machine an extension ( ) if I find something suitable. Customised, hey!

Having taken it on the motorway at speed last night, the only really annoying aspect of the noise in the helmet is a fairly high pitched whistling. Thankfully this can be largely negated by earplugs (earplugs tend to filter high freq sounds), so it's a pretty comfortable helmet for high speeds.
I also used the sun visor for the first time on the bike. Definately worth having and very easy to operate with one hand whilst riding.

Do you find the seal around the visor is a bit shabby and the wind can get under it fairly easily?

I can't feel any wind inside, but I can hear some high pitched whistling (easily negated by ear plugs) and also occasional clunking from the right hand inside (maybe part of the inner visor mechanism?)
The noise and the slightly high neck and rear sides stop if from being a 'must have', but it's still a good lid for the cash and after having used it for a while now, I'm defiantely glad I got it.
Okay I've had this on my bonce for 2k miles now and have developed mixed opinions of it. Great looks, love the intenal visor to bits, fits perfectly.
However it's incredibly noisy. The high pitched whistling that Ceri mentions is usually due to the visor not being fully closed. Although it appears to be shut it actually clips in place and when it's pushed this final bit the whistling vanishes.
There's a huge rush of air that circulates around the face that I've found comes not from a poorly fitted visor (though it certainly has a gap at the top which I've yet to test in serious rain) but from the fact that the bottom rim of the helmet is a fair bit shorter than found on other lids. This creates an area of low pressure that sucks the wind right up over your eyes and mine have often been literally streaming whilst riding. The cure is to tilt your helmet downwards on your head as far as is possible/comfortable which although alleviates the problem isn't exactly ideal. I'm going to modify the chin guard (as previously reported) so that it seals off the lower part of the helmet from the air stream and if this proves to work then I'll post up some photos.
Oh and the air vents. No matter which way I have the buttons pressed on the top of the lid it doesn't make a jot of difference. Strange!
But for 80-90 spondoolies it's still good value. Had I had the dosh I'd have bought the new Shuberth S1 (http://www.schuberth.com/s1/index3.htm) which is now on my wishlist.

I had a check the other night and what you said is true. Ta for solving the mystery of why sometimes it was decent sound proofing and other times it sounded like a banshee had taken up residence on the pillion seat. :notworthy:

i have a question i'm hoping one of you can answer for a yank
i was going to buy a Justissimo, but I wasn't really looking for the flip-up - just the internal visor. so the V2 looks like a great option
Can anyone tell me how these helmets fit? Similar to another brand? I have a HJC/KBC/Scorpion head, so if these are similar, i'm placing an order today!

I've had a V2 caberg for 5-6 months now and have found no probs, in fact its very good considerin the price but over last couple of days there seems to be a loud buzzin noise coming from the r hand side(while on head) of helmet, at 1st I thought it was somethin stuck in the vent but its too low as vent is on top of the head, Im comin up with the conclusion that its the internal visor makin the noise but as far as i can see/feel its pretty secure and I havent stripped the helmet down or even removed the main visor up till now.
Anyone got any suggestions? As any advice would be very much appreciatted?
Cheers
