I have worked in same job now for 5 years, the pay is good only work 4 days a week (Lucky) but the all important I hate it. Solution I love bikes so im thinking about doing a course to be a bike instructor. Has anyone been down this line or now where to get started.
no, but im thinking along those lines. . .
ive had my licence less than a year so i think i need to wait a bit more.
im not sure but i think you must have held your licence for at least three and a half years.

My mate used to be a courier. Reckons it long hours for not a lot of money these days, but if you are stuck for work it's worth thinking about
You will need a suitable bike (not many courior companies supply the bikes...) as you wouldn't want to subject your P&J to all that abuse....
Don't think I'd fancy it, rather save my riding for when I want to.

But I'm not riding at the moment (not insured, can't afford it). But if I was earning more than I am now I may be able to afford to run the bike :?

I love made up words. There should be a dictionary equivalent of Pop acedemy or big brother where we get to vote and keep a silly word in the dictionary forever.
There are a great deal of silly words in there that no-one ever uses (not even scrabble champions) so a few more wont hurt.

 Yes, lets start a campaign! :D
Back to the original question BSM amongst others do a train the instructor course for (it was) £1,800 that would get the qualification to train CBT, retsricted and then direct access.
On top of that if you were going to work for your self you will need:
2 x 125 machines
2 x 500 machines
1 x machine for yourself
Factor in sufficient advertising budget to hit you target market ( Local paper £30 per week x 2- 3 publications)
Liablity insurance (Huge cost)
I have looked at it and it is not cheap to set up.

Your quite right . I do dispatch (though I wouldn't count myself as a proper courier  ) and I don't think I'll still be doing it if I had to do real circuit work (lazy git). I'm lucky in that I've got a contract run which starts at 1.30PM and I'm done by 5.00PM all for a full days pay. The rest of the time I use for D&D.
Cheers

Please note I say this in jest before the critism begins !!!!
You could become a Police Community Support Officer for Transport for London.
All you would do all day is buzz around London on a company moped doing absolutely nothing and earning between £18.000 and £20.00 PA
beats working for a Living.
And No I am not A Police Communtiy Support Officer I could'nt live with the stigma.

the MCN sofa is full of couriers this week. They said they all started as a summer job or a parttime thing to earn some money, and they are at it many years later.
Its long hours and poorly paid, just like being a truck driver but you cant bully people out of the way :P

If you have an HGV or PSV licence there is an ideal job, provided you dont need to get home so often
http://www.exodus.co.uk/vacancies.html
It was advertised in MCN so they must think bikers will make good team leaders.
I sent an email, but I think Im the wrong end of 25+

My local riding school (http://www.oakrider.com/oak3.htm) do a 14 day instructor course for £1000

Big difference between doing something for pleasure and doing it for work,
sounds good now because youve not been riding long and your still keen but what after three years, will you still enjoy riding when its pi**ing down and some spotty scrote on a twist & go wants a lesson? I think not.
