View Full Version : Correct disposal of Parrafin

Being the environmental aware kinda guy that i am i was wondering what the solution is.
It says on the container how not to dispose of it and that it burns clean and ashless but....
I cleaned my chain today for the first time using parrafin.
 OMG so much better than all those "buy me" tins on the shelves of bike shops. If you aint tried it yet, do it.
Got rid of all the old wax n crud but i wanna know what to do with all the left over filthly liquid.
Anyone?
TIA

FS... i would as its says it burns clean but...... its in a cup and all the crud thats come off the chain is mixed in with it. I'd imagine it might be highly toxic to burn and i dont wanna be near it tbh ;)
Clogsy... strangly it says on the container that it cant be disposed of in the usual manner of oil etc.
oh just went out and read it again cos i thought it cant be right.
Not in landfill but in accordance with your local council it says.

You guys are getting to know me far too well. :D
Parafin is good stuff though if you can get hold of it Kerosene is much better, and they all can just be taken down your local council tip and put in the big drums they have there.

I'd go to the local tip and ask the guy there. Although usually very dirty and looking like something dragged out the pond, these guys do know their stuff.

Is it just me that leaves the top off the container with the dirty parafin/kerosene in it to let it evaporate. Then throw the dried residue in the bin :?
