View Full Version : Silly Silly SV
Yellow SV, in monton this morning, K3/K4 Model, i couldnt see the number plate.
S/He approached a 2 laned roundabout, left hand lane for going straight across, right hand lane for going towards Eccles (which is where most people are going at that time in the morning) so there was a queue for the right hand lane, i happily waited, as filtering towards a roundabout is a big no no, on account its quite small.
The Sv comes hairing past me, in the left lane with his indicator saying he wants to go right, fair enough he might have left it on (we all do sometimes) but no, he carries on around the roundabout going towards eccles, around the outside of cars already on the roundabout.
Now not only was he trapped between the pavement and cars that were in the correct lane, he was putting his life at risk from cars coming from the other junction.
If it was you, your very stupid indeed, and thats bieng nice about it!
Rant Over
I can't comment on what happened as I wasn't there and can't fully visualise the scene.
However I would certainly have filtered all the way up the roundabout and gone round the outside of cars (slowly and with great care) but only if I considered it to be safe to do so. Can't see the point of waiting in traffic if I can intelligently move through it - after all, that's one of the points of having a bike surely?
Now if the guy was hooning it, then that's a different matter.
.
I always filter, but the roundabout is VERY small, there isnt enough room in the lanes to filter, there was traffic coming from all sides, and after the junction, he was stuck next to the pavement.
What i usually do on said roundabout is, i filter up wards if there nothing in the other lane, squeeze into the correct lane, and if there is traffoc buildup on my junction, i filter around the right hand side of the vehicles to end up in the middle of the road, but he filtered around the left, and was trapped next to the pavement, i was behind him, but then when i did it the correct way, i went past him, so by doing what he did, he actually lost more time than he would have sat in traffic, and put his life at risk, if cars comeing from the other junction didnt see him.
Ah, he was a pillock then.

Have to agree with JP on this one as I know the roundabout he means. It's a bit of a daft one as it give you 2 lanes to the approach but the roundabout is barely wide enough for 2 cars. When i first saw this post i thought it was about me as i only live 1 mile from this roundabout and use it often but as my Yellow SV is a "curvy", not guilty my lord.
