Tank sticker removal - HELP!

I've taken all the other stickers off but alas! :? The clear liner on the tank sticker came off but not the lower half :oops: . How do you get that off without scratching the tank? :oops: :oops: :cry: :oops:

Boiling water and patience. If you want to avoid scratching then don't use anything other than your fingernail. Once you lose the clear cover it can take quite alot of water and time to get it shifted.

I used a hair dryer to heat the sticker up. Took me a matter of seconds for two of the stickers and maybe five minutes on the third. If any glue is left behind just give it a wipe with some meths on a soft cloth and this should clear it in a couple of minutes. The meths is okay to use on paintwork !!

Yep a Hairdrier is the way to go WD40 also removes any gum.

faling that a good rub down with some course sandpaper :wink:

Cheers for the advice guys! :thumbsup: The hot water and a cloth route was the one I chose...except I have short nails :| so a soft plastic utensil from Mrs Dubya's kitchen :-$ did the work of my fingernails. Took 5 minutes...and a bit of WD40 did the gum.

I carefully used a razor blade. If you get it at the right angle you can take stickers of easily without marking paintwork. It may help if you have had hours of practise removing them from old panels in preparation for spraying though..

Ophic, have you polished your bike recently ? When I took my stickers off I had the same problem, gave it a polish.... sorted !!

Again, thanks for the advice guys...worked a charm using the hot water...about two kettles full! Then a bit of WD40 on some paper towel and the gum was history! A quick polish and she's now good as new ready for her service on saturday morning in Tonbridge.

I did mine with a hairdryer nd it came of perfectly.
But its left behnd a virtual 'frame' for a new sticker to fit in. It feels almost raised and i've polished it with Mer a good few times.

Still it dont bother me much and its a damn sight better than being told motorbikes are dangerous everytime i get on it :lol:

WTF? There are 5 warning stickers on my bike!!!

Plus the UNLEADED sticker and two lovely "YORK SUZUKI" banners on the back and 2 inch letters. Would people expect these two come off in the same way as the warning ones?

the york suzuki ones are probably vinyl. If so, they'll come off with just fingernails.
