I took the SV out for the first time today. first impression AWSOME :!: Took it up to powersports to get it restricted, on the way up i thought i would open it up down a long clear straight (Driglington By-pass) trebble figures before i knew it  , soon backed off and realised that i was on a beast (compared to my TTR250).

At powersports they tryed telling me that i cannot keep the origional CDI, i told them that i plan on doing track days and need it. After a few minutes stand off i got it. paid £134 for it restricting and it only took about 15 mins.

On the way home the bike felt a bit flat asfar as the power was concerned, at about 4000rpm in second and third gear it misfired, is this normal for a restricted bike?

I put about 60 miles on the clock today and love the bike. The first 20 minutes of riding the bike were horrible, i struggled to turn it due to the low bars and that large amount of engine breaking, but im getting used to it now.

If the weather is dry in the morning im gonna have a blast over to sherburn, anyone gonna be there about 11am?

You were completly correct in asking for the ECU back.

They just want to keep it to charge you money when you want to derestrict.
When your 2 years are up, you can change them over yourself.

They are stupid.

Its ECU on a K3-4 & CDI on K1-2.

Not that I've experienced. But not having ridden it unrestricted I have no comparison. You'll still be able to get it up to 100mph if you want to, but not any further.

I was told by Powersports in Bradford that they have to keet the ECU to police me. It is down to them to ensure that i keep it restricted.
They will only give me the the old ECU when either i sell the bike or my restriction is up.
But when i told them that i wanted to do trackdays and the many ways that i can get hold of a standard ECU...E-bay...breakers yard....they let me keep it. :)

Any good dealer/garage should offer to give you all parts replaced back.

I go given the engine bolts when I had my mushrooms fitted, and have even found my old spark plugs under the seat after a service.

Hi All,
Restriction - What a stupid law - totally un policeable - who ever checks to see if your SV, R6, or Blade have been restricted ? And how many riders have only a standard licence and cant be bothered to get their bike restricted and take a chance ? Loads I bet. I mean, if you're not into treble figures what are the chances of getting stopped ? there's got to be a better way than leaving it down to individuals honesty:?:

Thats outrageous! If I understand it correctly, they were lying, its nothing to do to them to 'police' you. I wonder why they were so keen to keep your ECU? Perhaps they sell them on or something.

With mine it wasn't even a query, I got the bike with the restrictor and longer links already in place. They handed me the original ECU and links before I could say anything.
