Well, sort of. Passed my test yesterday :)
No plans to get a car, but a useful tool. Will be getting insured on my girlfriends car. But the real reason is so I can drive accross Australia this time next year :D We leave for Thailand in September 8)
However, I'm driving down to cornwall this weekend, so beware! If you see a metalic grey Ka, run.

Congrats on passing your test. How long are you planning to be in Oz? I went for nearly 3 months, a few years ago. We bought a cheap camper van from another british backpacker and drove round in that. I did miss having my bike for all that time though.

We'll be there for 2 months of our 12 months away. We may stay longer, but money wont go as far in Australia as South East Asia, so 2 months is probably all we can afford
You've done exactly what we want to do! PMing you now...
Well done on the test Monkey.
Are you going via A30 or A38 to Cornwall ?
Stick to the A30 then I know Plymouth will be safe

Nice one. :D
Nice one also :driving:
What you need to do is get a towbar attached and find yourself a trailer then you can have the best of both worlds.
I would do that but my poor escort found a tree instead :x

Thank you all! :D very kind.
Didn't think I'd get much response as I posted here, but figured the board needed the activity
Clunk, I think A30 all the way, I've done it on the bike it was dead boring (took the, I think, A349 :?: on the way back, that was last year - fantastic ride back :D all along the north coast), but in a car it's the most direct route. I thought the A38 stopped at Exeter :?:
It'll be motorway to Exeter, then A30 - as early as possible considering it's Easter hols  didn't think about that one! ah well, good experience for me! :D And I'm taking any opportunity to drive, I even drove into work (1.6 miles   ). Considering my bike isn't insured (hasn't been for months :( ) and I will be selling soon, it's nice to get a bit of freedom and mobility back :)
